  • Ideas for Resident Evil 7

    - Claire gets a sex change, and returns as David Redfield.
    - Wesker returns all deformed, after being in the lava and shot with some rockets.
    - More weapons - Rocket-Propelled Grenade Launchers, Napalm bombs, machine guns, freeze grenades, Swords, Samurai Blades, Nunchucks, Ninja Stars
    - You can ride vehicles to traverse the land - motorcycles, cars, jeeps, buses.
    - Get rid of the horror completely, all scary stuff is completely gone (it is anyway, so what difference does it make?)
    - Amp up the action - more melee moves, roundhouse kicks, cartwheels, punches, flips, backflips, etc.
    - Chris Redfield returns, and now he officially wears a blue bandana, and his hair has a little grey in it.
    - All New Character - Bobby, which is Ada's cousin's best friend.
    - All New Sports Mode. 2/3 of the game is all action/exploration and 1/3 of the game is sports. Hey, sports games sell pretty decent, right? "Sports Route Makes Sense." Trying to appeal to Madden players.
    - You have to win in the Sports mode in order to recover the Z Virus.
    - All New Z-Virus transforms Zombies into Ganados, and then into Majini, with the ability to use weapons and execute ninja-like moves, and scream out loud as they run, and then stop right in front of you before they attack.
    - More explosions, less puzzles, more exploration with more action-involved.
    - Triple the Quick-Time Events.
    - Armageddon Mode - Complete the game 1/3 the way to unlock Armaggeddon Mode, which gives infinte ammo to all weapons, and gives you all weapons. Enemies become double in number, and are harder to kill, meaning you have to use more ammunition, but it won't be a problem, because you'll have infinite ammo, which means you are mindlessly just shooting more just to kill the enemies.
    - Jill is back, this time she fights with Chris most of the game, because he cheated on her with a girl which will be known later in the game.
    - More Majini riding motorcyles off a cliff, riding motorcyles over buses, and airplanes.
    - All New Slow-Motion when there is so much action going on at the same time.
    - Takes place mostly in the daytime, with sun nice and bright.
    - You have to earn points to buy custom parts for your weapons, which give you so much more power, that they make the game too easy.

These are just some of the good ideas I have for the next RE game. Feel free to share yours.

    - Series gets rebooted

...Hey it worked for Bond after 20 movies...

Right - now Resident Evil 6 is out of their system, the game they've treatened to make for a number of years now (since the latter stages of Resident Evil 4). Capcom know the series is a money spinner no matter the review or quality. ORC sold well, Resident Evil 6 has already sold very well within a week. This allows them to actually make a risk for 7.

I'd put a considerable amount of money on Resident Evil 7 being completely different to anything we've experienced yet. Capcom even said a reboot is needed for 6, but I personally feel Capcom felt as though this generation is coming to a end, and are saving 7 as a game for next gen. Resident Evil 6 was a game they quickly cooked up, (one of the reasons why the story is so throw away and non-impactful on the rest of the series).

Resident Evil 7 will bring this series back to the fans, who've been there since day one. It needs to. Resident Evil as a 'brand' sells shit loads. They know this now, and they'll not be blind to the criticism this game has recieved. 7 will be a masterpiece.

And yet, companies like Konami have (thus far) managed to please fans AND newcomers alike with every installment in the Metal Gear series.

I played the original MGS on Playstation upon its US release, and when MGS4 came out a decade later, I did not feel the least bit betrayed by the plot or game-play style. Hopefully MGR:R doesn't break this trend ...

I have not felt the same about Resident Evil, however, since RE4 was released (great game in its own right, but it was not truly Resident Evil to me). Unlike many critics, I absolutely loved the Outbreak series (although some aspects were executed poorly). If both files were remastered in HD with improved online communications and loading times, I would literally jump for joy. I can say without reserve, though, that REmake is the quintessence of Resident Evil, a model that can always be looked up to. If they re-rendered those backgrounds in 1920x1080 and re-released the game, I would be at peace with the series.

          1 single idea from me:
-Finish the series and start a new one with another name with the same style

          It would leave everyone happy.

Revisit the old Hallucination concept of biohazard 4. An isolated, derelict castle and adjacent forest and outside areas in a snow-based setting. Single-player. Puzzles. Have Leon and Ada featured and give a conclusion to their relationship and Ada's mysteries with in-game files that explain other unresolved plot threads in the rest of the series. Keep the gameplay system of BH6 but drastically tone down the action. No gun-wielding enemies or enemies with human intelligence. Grotesque enemy designs. Add a full-fledged Nemesis-esque "Pursuer" with increased random appearances depending on difficulty setting. More gothic atmosphere. Include Raid Mode and Mercenaries with multiplayer.

              Done, fans pleased. Cash gained.

                The BEST idea for RE7:

                - Leading hero Steve Burnside with Brad "Chicken-Heart" Vickers as his partner.
                - RE0 system of dropping items
                - Fighting a mix of African and Spanish villagers.
                - Main villain is Alfred Ashford in drag.
                - Game-play style of Resident Evil: Gun Survivor
                - Special guest characters Lott and Lily Klein
                - Setting: the cruise liner from Resident Evil Gaiden
                - Final Boss: Excella Gionne
                - Disc-swap midway through the game, plus an hour to pre-load sections to the HDD before playing
                - All weapons and healing items are DLC, but ammo can be found every two meters
                - Everything you do is rewarded with a trophy, 10,000 total possible
                - Massive multi-player mode featuring palette-swaps of the aforementioned characters

Hows about they hit the reboot switch and go back to the beginning instead of continuously fucking the series up for the CoD fanbases pleasure and giving Anderson more material for his shitty films.

Anderson will just reboot the movies.

No reboots, or remakes. Pure laziness. If they can't handle a new game how exactly do you think they are going to handle a remake?

This would be great! To bad so many companies nowadays think that horror games without explosions and lots of action are just unsuccessful though.

Didn't the end of Ada's campaign in RE6 give a hint of what's next? Well that's what I thought they were getting at.
                        Zombies...zombies everywhere...

Laziness and acceptance are a very slim line.

How can they handle a remake? They have all the material they need set up for them already, they arent making up their own stories that just dont have any real impact. There is still plenty of material from the original game that can be expanded upon, or even adjusted. I mean hell, they could even give Chris, Jill, and other S.T.A.R.S member sub plots and stuff(minus Barry being 'tired') and mix in random events to keep things fresh in replays.

Not to mention that they could do amazing things with the Spencer mansion location with today's technology. I'm sorry, there are dozens of things that they could do to make a scary ass remake that still has plenty of action with the classic monsters.

You can do a dozen things with the undead now, that you couldn't do a decade ago(more zombie variety, types, attacks etc). Same with Hunters, Cerberus, Chimera etc.

I see nothing but potential in going back to square one, I really do.

As for the series new direction, I really just don't see any of us here getting our 'fill' from the new stuff they keep trying.

...well, shit, now I have nothing to add. Decent sounding horror game re-using assets in the best of capcom fashions? Sounds actually promising.

Fine, I'll go with my other idea. I'd like to see a city die. I'd like to start playing a game right as the outbreak begins, so we have to deal with all the panic and looting. Have it so your choices matter, maybe throw in some randomness (maybe the cops hold longer randomly, so some areas don't get hit as badly randomly, things like that). But if you choose to go to the main Fire Station and help kill the zombie Silverback Ape who broke out the zoo and is now smashing up the fire engines then when fires break out due to not going to a power station they can keep them under control better. Or instead head for a hospital and help get medical stations set up around town.

Part of the terror of zombies (and yes, I'm gonna use zombies and not something that can carry a gun) is scenes like coming across a street with a tipped over bus and zombies pulling screaming people from the wreckage to feed on. Or seeing a hoard break into a house and hearing the screams and gunfire coming out as they pour in.

Again, something like this would be amazing but to bad capcom won't risk it. It's pretty sad that horror games are pretty much dead nowadays. There were so many last gen but they've seem to have just vanished this gen...

Oh wait, what am I saying!? Anything that's not CoD or doesn't have gunfights and explosions sucks. Silly me.
