If they used Softimage|3D as they modeling tool, the only resolutions available to run the application are 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1600x1200, so an aspect ratio of 1.333 (4:3).

It would probably be much better if they would make entirely new assets utilizing all the performance of current-gen or next-gen hardware instead of just reusing last-gen assets, don't you think?
Just compare the visuals shown in the following video for example:
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
with the visuals shown in the following video for example:
The extended version of the announcement trailer for biohazard, the remake of BIO HAZARD for the Nintendo GameCube. First shown to the public during the BIOS...
Although "Resident Evil Remake" is running on NGC (last-gen) and "Resident Evil 5: Lost In Nightmares" is running on PS3/Xbox 360 (current-gen), "Resident Evil Remake" does somehow look better than "Resident Evil 5: Lost In Nightmares", doesn't it?
Now imagine how amazing a game with pre-rendered backgrounds, like "Resident Evil Remake" for example, would probably look if it would be made with assets which would fully utilize current-gen hardware (PS3/Xbox 360 for example) or even next-gen hardware (like PS4/Xbox 720 for example, or whatever they are going to be called) .
Getting "Resident Evil Zero" and "Resident Evil Remake" with existing last-gen assets rendered at higher resolution would probably be somewhat nice, but it would probably be much nicer if they would instead develop new assets to squeeze out every last bit of performance of current-gen or next-gen hardware, wouldn't it ?
But, ultimately, wouldn't it actually be much better if they would use all their workforce to develop a entirely new "Resident Evil 7" (or whatever you wanna call it) for current-gen or next-gen hardware with classic gameplay and pre-rendered backgrounds instead of remaking older games ?
Imagine a Resident Evil game with environments like the ones in this video:
Everything in the video was computer generated!Last edited by Darkangel; 10-13-2012, 11:41 PM.

reboot dude, your idea is logical, but we are talking about a remake of the remake? eheh
i really believe they can create almost real life with the newest engines using pre rendered. but thats for a new game.
for remake, zero, even 2 and 3, it would be easy re encode the master render instead recreate the game from scratch.

I'm pretty sure Capcom still has the 3D master files for the REmake/0 backgrounds because they used downscaled versions for the environments in Umbrella Chronicles.
and the foolz say "oh, u want static? go play LIN!". foolz.
Remake and Zero are 3d like any other 3d aplication.
