I used to do HUNKs mission using 0 or 1 bullets, but used to take a lot of damage from the ivies. That video linked is very impressive.

I don't think all versions of RE2 have the in game timer and results screen. I know that my original PAL release certainly doesn't.

Do you think the 10 day deadline is a bit short?

How about an RE1 speed run contest? Really busy but for RE1 I'd probably do a few speed runs It would have to be one of the original PS versions, no DS version or anything. Though my Dual shock controller doesn't seem to like Windows 7 right now..

I recently finished going through the Directors Cut so I'm keen for an RE1 speed run too Scream Marvin what do you think, after these RE2 runs are finished?

I would recommend restricting it to Chris only with rocket launcher, as that's the fastest way to get through the game in under an hour on PS1. Also don't use a save with special key as you will need to remove it from your inventory wasting time. The only question would be which version to go through - RE1, Bio1, RE1DC standard, Bio1DC standard. I would probably suggest Bio1DC/RE1DC as they are the versions most people have (on PSN and stuff), though I'm not sure what the differences are (is the difficulty tweaked like original RE1/bio1? I can't remember hah). You might want to play Bio1DC as you can get through any Japanese text quicker than English text IIRC.

Well I think we should have two separate contests, maybe just under the same RE1 themed banner. The Directors Cut is a little bit more difficult I noticed, but the main differences are of course item placements and some random variables with enemies such as speed, damage etc. They also appear in different locations at times. I did play through on Advanced which is the hardest setting, and if you hold right on Advanced it highlights green for double ammo. So I think this could be the theme if people choose Directors Cut as it's quite easy to finish the game like this (for instance, instead of the red gem you get 36 magnum rounds with the double ammo activated - that's way more than enough if you don't kill everything.)

So we could say if people choose to play RE1, maybe have it as you suggest, with the infinite rocket launcher. If Directors Cut, maybe the double ammo Advanced mode. Just more of a challenge that way. If not just rocket launcher for both haha.

I was only referring to the standard normal mode on Director's Cut (not the arrange/advanced mode), by differences I meant the difference between Biohazard DC and Resident Evil DC. For example, Biohazard original (not DC) has auto-aim and is slightly easier than Resident Evil original (not DC) - but I'm not 100% sure what differences carry over to Biohazard DC/Resident Evil DC.

Advanced vs standard is a matter of preference and would have to be two different categories anyway. Though I'm not sure many are interested anyway haha

Haha yeah I wasn't sure if that's what you meant, my apologies. I didn't know Bio 1 had auto aim, that's interesting. RE DC has auto aim as well so I don't think there's many differences that way from Bio DC.

Well yeah I'm really into this hopefully it gathers more of an interest, I'll have to do a standard play through soon to prepare.

I think the speedruns over all games will never bring enough contestants. I'd stick next time to Hunk & Hunk modifications (I have several ideas already) and Resident Evil 2 Extreme Battle runs and Nemesis'es Mercs mode. Ou yeah, actually RE1 battle mode is also interesting If ONLY COULD GET emulator running on this thinggy. Shame it was not implemented on psx. doh.

How about yearly contests for the games with no deadline (other than the year obviously)? There's a lot of records for the RE games, but a lot of them are ancient - there's no current speed run champion, keeping your skills up to date is just as important haha

I am in half way of practicing and finding best routes. Here is what happened. I made a mistake I got so mad that I made even more mistakes. Eventually I almost died, but still managed to survia via very close call. I just killed all in east office area and quit recording....

This is my unofficial time so far. Too bad I didn't record this as I finally broke the 3 minute barrier
This original 1:59 time seems absolutely impossible and I am starting to think it was cheated somehow. As 2:46 is basically without any delay anywhere, only few places I stop for enemy triggers different movement. Anyway I am aiming to 2:30 with recording or course. I have been practicing every day for ca 4-5 hours now. I am getting a little tired of this
