They haven't shown any real interest in pursuing these story concepts and its likely not to happen. If they do the full reboot they have a huge plotline they can still follow and strengthen the series narrative among other things.
Sorry to disagree with ya dude, I know you want them to finish up the story arc, but I dont see them doing that. If they did, I dont see them doing a decent job at it either.
Originally posted by Det. Beauregard View PostWell said. You could see BOWs getting larger and more ridiculous with every game. Cave trolls? Mutated Irving? Whale BOWs? Simmons? Carla? I laughed so unbelievably hard in 6 when Simmons mutated into whichever monster flavor of the moment and then somehow transformed back to human form! I literally could not believe that I was playing a Resident Evil game! The whole danger of these viruses is that once you mutate, it's final - there's no going back, no regaining your humanity. Darkside Chronicles showed that spectacularly with the Javier battle at the end, as did Code Veronica with Alexia; 6 made it all look like a joke.

I agree about the whole "bigger, talking enemies" bit. I despise that with every fiber of my being. But that is due to shitty enemy design and generally lame gameplay design, not the plot.
Also, Wrathborne, I did not assume anything. A reboot can be many things. What I was replying to was the false notion that the plots currently make it impossible for Survival Horror to resurface. They can easily scale back the enemies without interfering with the series universe.

Ok let me just clear something up from my first post when I said about my collection being irrelevant I meant that with a new story everything about the old series is over. Everday I learn new things about RE wether it be things I forgot or just new details. With a new storyline my interest in a storyline that has been buried because it was deemed not good enough to continue? Why would I be interested in finding out new facts? I still have a ton of books to read and files at sites like Project Umbrella.
The way Capcom is now do you honestley believe that they can create a new fresh remake of the RE series that has such a rich story as the original games? They cant even manage files in a game anymore. No way can they turn heads like they did with RE 1 and 2. For you to put as much faith in them as some of you are I dont get where u got that faith from?
Also about people saying that they need to reboot because of the enemys well I agree with Newsbot as well as his comment about Jake dying because of a backflip gone wrong they should make that canon. Just look at Remake slow zombies fast b.o.w's if you fill a room with slow zombies you can bet your ass you will still panic. They just need to use the enviorment like old school RE used the camera angles. I apologise for my spelling and grammar I am using my phone to type this and its making it insanley difficult to scroll back and forth.

I wish CapCom would take Resident Evil 4 beta, aka Resident Evil 3.5, and make a new character and fix the story line. I like the hallucination thing that happens to Leon, because any inanimate thing, like a Stuffed animal or a doll, can come to life to attack Leon. The hook man character looked scary too, he is a perfect enemy for Resident Evil Genre.
I think if they get talented people, Capcom could make something good with the beta material.I have received 135,000 infractions at The Horror Is Alive!

I think the main idea for me is that a reboot would allow Capcom to do what they want with the series without putting pressure on the thing they've spent all this time creating. As long as Capcom don't turn it into a FPS game I don't think it could get any worse as a 3rd person shooter. If maintaining the horror element is their goal we're at least heading in the right direction, having a new cast in a new setting would be a very refreshing change to the series and allow them to explore the horror on a more personal level with new and inexperienced survivors.

@news bot, heh they controlled cerberus? That makes no sense lol. Tyrants, Hunters etc I can understand since they were biologically crafted but dogs were just like people, an accident. A licker would be closer to a mutant than anything else, aka let's see what happens when we inject this guy directly with the t virus. If lickers were controllable it would mean I could scoot down to the lab for an inhibitor gun and control every monster in site. Geez did I miss something or did resident evil throw all their lore out of the window?Last edited by EvilMarshy; 02-01-2013, 09:01 PM.

Its always been about making and marketing BOWs, the undead in any of their forms weren't really meant to be weaponized, they were just a side effect.

When you inject someone directly with the T-virus you get a zombie, period. The zombie then can turn into a Licker if it begins to starve or Crimson Head depending on the strain of the virus used. The Lickers in Damnation had a Plaga implanted on them, that's why they followed Buddy's orders, but it's not outside the realm of possibility within the series that you could train Lickers to follow orders as well.

Leon, Circa RE4. You go through the first third of the game just as the game is now- You pretty much have the advantage at all times, dropping ganadoes with leap kicks and shotgun blasts. But you enter the castle and BOOM! All that awesome ability pales in comparison with the horrors inside. You literally NEED all those macho power to survive, not just to look cool in-game... and most of the time that shit gets you killed. That could be the most horrifying RE ever made- all that power and it's mostly useless, leaving the grizzled veteran truly helpless.
Unfortunately RE4~6 haven't done that, you feel in charge at all times. It's not that the game lacks horror per say, it's just that the enemies are WAY too susceptible to your tactics.Last edited by AsteroidBlues; 02-01-2013, 10:55 PM.sigpic
