Technically, without knowing all the details involved on how you got this information, it is conflicting information. From what I remember, Kamiya did not have trouble recalling the source of power of the protagonist; he had a hard remembering that The Count was Lord Spencer. Mercier also provided three bits of information (two which are verifiable and correct) which have never been contradicted up until this point.

You cannot claim it be incorrect as if it were the word of God. Unless, like I said before, this bit of information comes from Noburo Sugimura himself.

There's a lot Kamiya doesn't remember. And Mercier was simply not speaking literally. The whole point of the game's scenario was that Leon was on the verge of death and had little time left, but he was never slated to die. In fact the ending is about as grim as a fucking bunny frolicking in dandelions. It's really pretty simple.

It keeps coming out in trickles, you're so anxious. xD If you ever get the green light to make all that info public, you're going to have a coronary aren't you?

A coronary like never before. It was a pretty good scenario. However parts of it play into current (and future) titles so releasing would be very problematic, on top of the fact that the source is literally the only one who still knows the full thing.

Ah, so there is a possibility that we've been seeing bits and pieces of RE3.5 in all RE titles post RE5, in some recycled form or another? (besides Uroboros)

In your opinion, is there anything that they're planning in the future that does the original story justice? Without mentioning specifics of course. ;)

dont u guys think about the fog monster fight on fog trailer?

my theory is this: leon go trough a wooden door on the sides of that "hall"- there is some grids, making the way a little corridor. then he takes the spiral staircase down. under there, for some reason he unleash the monster and then take the staricase back. after that, he fight the monster in the hall again.

hes using a poweful desert eagle because, or its a kind of climax in the middle of game(like Lisa) or its just to impress the public.

then after that, put those straps. that skin is ported to hallucination video. dunno if some of u fancy people noted, but in RE4 making of, there is someone who while explaining the design, put the 3.5 leon model on retail re4 game, in the place where ashley say "leave me alone" and later there are a ton of zealots.

A few things I should probably lay down:

                1) Leon was not infected with the Progenitor Virus.
                2) The "fog" was not the Progenitor Virus.
                3) There was never a connection to Gaiden.
                4) Leon was never intended to die.
1- Good to know, it seems many dumb sites say that he was infected with the progenitor even Wiki ...
2- obviously lol ! progenitor itself isn't a monster, but a product created from the progenitor ?
3- haha the game is a joke why would there be any.
4- True, theres nothing that states this other than mercier and he was over joking.

Since there's nothing severe with these, I think I'm able to post them. Just the reasons why the Castle and Hallucination version were both scrapped, so should explain a few things for people:

Leon and the girl were the main characters of this stage of that version (Castle). It's completely different from the experiment of the room causing real-time changes that we went for (Hallucination). There's no connection between the story and situation at all.
When talking about the BIOHAZARD castle version of Leon and the girl, the castle version did not have the psycho horror element.
The castle version was orthodox BIOHAZARD. Except that Leon was contaminated with a virus and had little time left. And he could use his monstrous arm as a weapon.
The hallucination version with Hookman which causes real-time changes was experimental and there was no story. Well, Leon's arm became monstrous due to a virus.
                  Castle:

The dual composition was not on a scale like BIOHAZARD2 and another completely compatible game was planned, including the hero's abilities.
The cost was too high, and moreover, we weren't able to display it with the GameCube and the quantity of data for the dog and heroine was very heavy.
                  Hallucination:

As a result of trying all the experiments, we reached a conclusion that it was impossible.
                  The contents weren't necessarily bad.

Obviously you can't answer most of these, but I'll pose the questions regardless...

[1] Did the virus actually effect gameplay (i.e. actually had a time limit to the game before the virus killed you), or was it just a passive story element much like RE4 Final and the Plagas? Surely the arm weapon mechanic cost the player to use? In either health or "time" if a time element was actually in the game, as mentioned above.

[2] If I read this correctly, there was to be a second game added to this story? Using much the same mechanics as LoZ:Seasons/Ages? Was one to follow Leon's story and the other to follow The Girl? If this is the case, I can see why they ultimately had to cancel the project. Even in the example I posed, that particular series of games originally had three interwoven titles planned, but got cut back to two in order to meet budget requirements.

[3] If the quantity of data was that large for the pair of characters, that tells me there must have been some serious contextual uses for the dog. Either puzzles, defense, etc. Is this so?

                      1) Only plot related. Not many details about the arm mechanic.

                      2) The Castle version consisted of two scenarios, similar to BH2 but inferior. Whether they were selectable or just changed automatically by progressing through the game is unknown.

                      3) No information on that sadly, but its very likely.

[1] Any chance that the arm mechanic was similar to Krauser's? It just seems too coincidental that two similar ideas would appear independently of one another within the same development team working on the same title.

[2] Interesting. I wonder what made it inferior in their opinion.

[3] Sounds Haunting Ground-ish. xD I know you hate that theory, but still...

I'm sure there's a chance it was similar to Krauser's, but we don't know. As for the Haunting Ground connection, there's no direct asset reuse. However, the basic scenario of Haunting Ground was written by Noboru Sugimura after the Castle version. I'm sure there's a connection there, but Sugimura's tragic passing makes it impossible to tell.

I've heard you say that there was no asset reuse, but the scenario sounds too similar not to have been related. I'll just file that away with the things I believe but can't prove. xD *sets it next to Easter bunny file*

                            On to the Hallucination build:

Did the Hallucination build ever make it past the original small mansion test stage?

The Hallucination build was just the small mansion, although they used a few areas from the Castle version (the uhh, castle) to beef out the trailer a bit.

So some of the things we saw in the Hallucination build trailer were actually from the Castle build. Interesting. In that behind the scenes gameplay video with the dolls and the fog man, did we see the entirety of the small mansion?

I know this question has probably been asked (and answered) a million times, but what role did the blimp/zeppelin play? I assume it belonged to the Castle Version?
