The original Arklay mansion lab being a much larger facility, including its own "disposal' area like the Dead factory in RE3.(Minus giant cannon)A large corpse ridden dumping ground for failed experiments and infected personal? What about several files showing off the development of the different BOWs at different stages as well as experiments performed on them? What about making Wesker just that little more nasty and cerebral and instead of just him scamming Barry, he's also got Rebecca and Brad following his orders. Instead of Brad flying around like a clown after abandoning everyone, hes been waiting at a chopper landing pad at a different location waiting for Weskers orders "or else'. Barry is there to keep an eye on Jill and report to Wesker, Rebecca is there to keep an eye on Chris and report to Wesker. Feel free to scrutinize as you wan't too for the ideas not being cannon, but they still fit into the series and would work like a charm.
So basically... the exact same story again with pointless, minor alterations that completely negate long established information. You're not helping your imagination look very good. Not one of those fit or "work like a charm."

But no, instead of thinking of the possibilities of expanding upon established events, characters and monsters you just said that an reboot automatically negates series 18 year history.
"Expanding" on previous events like you just did does negate 18 years of history because they are pointless contradictory additions that don't fit with what has been long established. Perfunctory nonsense is all that seems to be coming from you. The writers expand upon established events quite a lot, and they do it without contradicting themselves with every idea. You don't want expansion. You want a rewrite.

    I'm just being nit picky.
    You don't say.

I could crap out a better story than the writers could
Go for it. I've yet to hear a single good idea from you yet, but you're always welcome to change that. Until then, it would be best not to gloat about an ability you've yet to prove.

I totally agree with Wrathborne , it appears this time they have learned their lesson "hopefully" according to what we've heard and RE6 is officially number 1 worst game in the whole series according to all the reviews, this sure made Capcom realize how well Revelations was received and how badly RE6 was ....

Them releasing Revelations in an upgraded edition with bunchs of extras to have fun with all makes sense since they finally realized that, so if the same team works on a reboot or a REmake we should expect a very awesome / amazing and original game.
Darkness : Tactical reload wasn't even in deadly silence LMAO

Yeah, I expect Capcom to shit on us from a great height. They love being up there in there money tower, pants down and taking aim.#

Alright, ladies and gentlefolks, let us assume that that if there is a reboot to the series it'll be a gameplay reboot only and the storyline will continue. If you want to spoeculate on how a story reboot might work, let's start a new thread.

Developer's have stated that Bio7 will be a reboot, of sort. It would be redundant to make two separate threads about the same subject.
You don't have to be a mod to be annoyed with off topic chatter that openly disregards the OP's rules.

"Developers" didn't state anything, Kawata himself just doesn't reject the idea when asked about it, that's totally different. And no it wouldn't be redundant because RE7 and a RE reboot are two fundamentally different subjects. Both are very interesting, and even though I hate reboots I'm curious to know what some of you guys imagine what would a good reboot be, as far as story is concerned. But not here.

On the first point; There was someone in my town who tried to do that off a hotel room balcony... hit a busboy. XD

On the second point; Thank you. The reason I started this thread "barring a reboot" was for the simple reason that it would be batshit insane for Capcom to do a reboot, and they know it. Seriously- Capcom would more than likely have a fiscal nightmare and a goddamn fanboy apocalypse on their hands if they did so.

And more vindictive ad hominem from Newsbot, with social skills like yours I'm surprised you aren't still in primary school. Like I said, you don't want to hear any ideas regarding a reboot because you don't want a reboot. You're more interested in thinking you're right than bothering to try to give an argument because it contradicts your opinion, that's why I didn't bother to mention more ideas for a reboot or am going to bother with your childish nitpicking.

As long as the series continues to make crappy installments that answer 1 or two small questions or at least use bits of supplemental material from sources outside the games, you're free to enjoy whatever messes they make. Not going to stop you, even when you are the last person defending the games here just because it matches pre-existing supplemental material thats only available in the series country of origin.

You really are the "Fox news' of the forum, looking down at everyone who disagrees with you, and ignoring the larger problem at hand just hoping things get better.

Oh hey, personal comments, that'll make everyone think, 'Yup, that point was clearly valid, he insulted him as a person after.'

How about we play the polite game, folks? Can we play that game now? It has shiny colours and everything!

                    • Played the polite game for 3 posts with him Darkmoon. I think after 3 of his "I can be as rude and condescending as I want too" responses, I'm entitled to one. -_-

Wont be continuing the responses though, its not going anywhere.

                      • Then hit the magical report button, which will whisk away your sads to me for appraisal. Oddly enough, when posts get that big, I don't always read them. Sadly for you, MarkGrass' post made me go look at yours.

Besides, the warning was for both of you. Not that I actually expect anyone to listen to me until I start throwing infractions around, because my kids never listen until I put them in time out either, but one can always hope that the behaviour of a bunch of under 10's isn't an accurate model for forum behaviour.

It hasn't been wrong yet, but always, there is hope...

                        • No need for a warning DM, like I said the conversation hit its end after the last comment I made.

I was quite civil until the last comment, besides cant hit the report button any time someone on the forum makes just any offensive comment, if that was the case you and the rest of the mods boxes would fill up every other day.

The last post I made was purely laughing at the reference of the Fox News organization, here in the states - that 'news' corp. is a joke, putting it nicely. None of it had nothing to do with News Bot and/or Wrathbone, or RE7.

                              • ... Is it safe to go back to the topic at hand? The topic right now, as you may remember, is the following...

With the advent of Revelations being the best RE in a long time, and the few redeeming features of RE6, RE7 could have great potential. All they need is a story and a protagonist. Which brings us to an important two-part topic to discuss...

Pt. 1: Should RE7's playable protagonists be...

                                A) All original characters telling a new story
                                B) Series mainstays (Leon, Chris, Jill,) continuing and possibly concluding their personal story arcs
                                C) B-list stars such as Claire, Sherry, Sheva, etc having their own stories

Pt. 2: Where should the story take place in the timeline?

Should it take place after RE6, or elsewhere in the timeline? (because it IS possible that RE7 could be a prequel. Just because it hasn't happened in the RE series yet does not mean it couldn't happen.)
And remember! We're talking about the future of RE7 BARRING A REBOOT. Should you wish to discuss an RE7 Reboot, I would suggest starting an "RE7 Reboot Discussion" thread... it'll save a lot of arguing. :S
