Does a game-play reboot count? Because that's what I want.

Eh what the fuck, toss out a random idea I've had for a while.
A new type of virus. Something sentient, self aware, capable of replicating itself and infecting others that essentially make a copy of the originals mind, personality, traits etc.
Combine the basic concept of "The Thing" where is a creature that can split itself into multiple parts and the idea of it hacking into your DNA and mixing itself in as well as a bit of "invasion of the Body Snatchers".
Has the now standard generic claws, tentacles mutations mixed in for defense and the basic idea is that instead of humanity putting out a virus to control other humans for their own gains, its a sentient intelligent virus thats slowly taking over humanity in order to replace it.
Not killing for the sake of killing or being overtly Evil, but to ensure its own survival.
This is the Virus itself as an enemy and a threat, rather than human organization running things its an intelligent artificially made life form out there thats been introduced into the food chain and is struggling to find its place.
It'd be a new life form that wouldn't be your average BOW that was just made for warfare, to enhance human abilities or lifespan, but its something that wants the right to exist and knows what means it has to take to ensure that it gets too.
There you go a new Type of monster thats the absolute worst type of monster, us. When it comes down to it this monster is a human based lifeform that will do anything to survive.Last edited by Wrathborne; 02-16-2013, 11:29 PM.

Not sure what yer referring too.
Otherwise known as this:
While the Necromorphs from Dead Space are distinctly different from the The Thing, the resemblance is pretty similar.
On topic though, I'm not sure what I'd want to see in RE7. As I've said before, RE6 pretty much killed any interest I had story-wise anymore... Is it asking to much to see what the characters that we haven't seen outside of their original games have been up to? IE Barry, Billy, Rebecca, etc?... Ah who am I kidding, it won't happen I know but I'd love to see them come back in a main RE game. I remember the fake rumors about Barry starring in RE6 sounding awesome. I would love to see something similar for RE7. Also Ada's organization and Alex Wesker must be revealed in the next game or I really just won't care anymore.Last edited by Spera01; 02-17-2013, 04:07 AM.

AH, I figured it was a Dead Space reference. I don't play the games or pay attention to the series as I've always liked my Sci-fi elements more int he background than the foreground.
Its hard to not reference or be inspired by "The Thing" as it was, and still is an amazing story that sticks with you.Last edited by Wrathborne; 02-17-2013, 05:29 AM.

Like I said, you don't want to hear any ideas regarding a reboot because you don't want a reboot. As long as the series continues to make crappy installments that answer 1 or two small questions or at least use bits of supplemental material from sources outside the games, you're free to enjoy whatever messes they make. Not going to stop you, even when you are the last person defending the games here just because it matches pre-existing supplemental material thats only available in the series country of origin.
You really are the "Fox news' of the forum, looking down at everyone who disagrees with you, and ignoring the larger problem at hand just hoping things get better.
You're also reverting to insults now that you can't actually offer a rebuttal. You can whine about how gosh-darn rude I am all you want, it's not making your imagination any better or making your assessments of me any less wrong. I know what I like more than you do, I assure you. Your little "not going to prove you wrong because I can't" is a nice cop-out, but it's not helping you. I've given you plenty of chances and you've just bitched through each of them and complained that I'm a big meanie because I can identify the nonsense in your statements, rather than actually doing anything to prove me wrong.
The "larger problem" is something I've talked about quite extensively and made my views quite clear on. I wasn't discussing it with you, and you never requested to do so. That's not ignoring anything. You're happier to just make assumptions about what I think, though.

No need for a total reboot at all. They can continue this storyline, only ad new characters - civils, who doesnt know how to deal with bow unlike main protagonists. This is one of the key elements, plus tweek gameplay, create darker atmosphere. You can do all of this, create survival horror, without destroying everything we new in a story metter. And of course, hire a good writer.

Nah, you would just do good to explain yourself better considering your comment, at face-value, literally makes little sense. The characters aren't essential to the story. It can continue without them, just as it did in Gun Survivor and Gun Survivor 4.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium
