This entire incident really brings me back. In the late 1990s, a beta version (practically a trial edition / demo) of Chrono Trigger was dumped. A friend of mine back in the day, Baruberry (who worked on the FF5 SNES english translation, also cracked the FF8 Copy Protection, etc) we decided to poke around in this beta / demo. He fiddled around, gave me some walk through walls codes, we began exploring. He was all, "OMG, you gotta check out this song playing in the Epoch's dome!" Which was of course, what is now known as the Keeper's Dome song, we heard it first ...
We went through this Chrono Trigger beta, finding out all sorts of weird things that no one besides the development team and us had seen before, and soon eventually, a SPC compilation was made. We also discovered that Colosseum structure in 2300 AD, and posted screenshots.
What I guess I'm trying to say is, it's great to be a part of exploring an epic beta again after all these years. Being here when the new soundtracks were discovered and posting them on the main page, just brought me back to my youth. :3Last edited by Eteponge; 02-18-2013, 11:27 PM.

My brother & I found beta copies of Apple ][c games, plenty of 5 1/4" floppies tossed down from dad's shady friends HHowever, the narcotic undertow of discovering new things and following people who find other new things in a lost grail is just that....narcotic.....weeeee!

After adjusting my search pattern (to 6 bytes of common data in header, three variations), figuring out that all *.BS files might always be 32,768 bytes (Edit: I am wrong, found some 64KB ones), I found a decent method of extracting.
Not ideal since it takes a long time to but I'm still too much of a noob to figure out starting offset/sector, and size or end of of file for the *.BSS files. lol Though those files are pretty much
indistinguishable from single *.BS files since they are just a series of *.BS files pushed together with no additional bytes.
I have extracted some backgrounds that are not accessible in-game but I remember seeing some of these before. There is probably a lot of different camera angles that haven't been seen due to issues triggering events.

Hullo! If I'm not mistaken, there's a couple of shots of the RE2 Beta 1 Test Corridor! So they've got Trial/Beta 1 assets on the disc? Hmmmm ... Very interesting .... You've also got overheads of the two Interrogation Rooms and the RPD 1F East Hallway, as well as one of the East Stairwell backgrounds. Nice!
I've got all the RPD backgrounds snapped now that I could find using the Debug Menu, but Mediafire seems to have killed my account. Hang on and lemme see if I can find some place to host this ....Last edited by RMandel; 02-19-2013, 12:47 AM.Do you know where I can find the final build of Resident Evil 1.5?

Currently, I have a list of about 741-757 possible backgrounds (offsets). Not sure if it is everything but a decent number. If I can figure out WinHex scripting, I can attempt to automate the extraction however even if I manage to do that, I still need to figure out if a program/plugin exists for me to batch convert the images into a more common format.
I tried extracting the last 12 images in my list and they were all the the train backgrounds. After a quick look through, they appear to be the ones from the trial version.
These are the hints I used to find the *.BS files (header varies so need more than one):
Code:003801000300 003802000200 003802000300
You need to use a hex/sector editor that can view the disk/drive itself when the CD-Image is mounted to it (do not do raw 2352 byte sector reads).
If header info for other file formats that are on the disk are found, possible from the final, beta, or trial, can possibly extract some other data as well.
I'll attach what I have right now but it's not much and still in BS format. I included a program you can use to view them.Attached Files
