Resident Evil 1.5 WIP Build - Bug Report and Resolution Thread (Patches, etc)

    Just reported some patch bugs for PSP, wasn't sure which thread to post in:

    Just got done playing / testing the patched game on my PSP 3001 - really cool, zombies in the sewers now!

    It seems however that this patch introduces some bugs which aren't there otherwise:

    The first one is with Leon. From the heliport and down the steps, the door in front of the steps (not the door in back) - I believe this is the door to the chief's office - it will start to open, but will lock up every time.

    The second bug happens when entering that stairwell that has the Claire poster on the wall. Leon doesn't appear in the room and the game locks up.

    Neither of these bugs are present for me in the un-patched version.

    Other (likely non-related to the patch itself): Firing the shotgun with Leon in the Chief's office will lock up the game. Spider corridor seemingly locks up no matter what.

    This is not a complaint, just a simple bug report. Thanks again for the patch, cool stuff!

      I'm sure this thread is useless. If you play this beta build you'll see it's very incomplete compared with the "normal" 1.5 videos that everybody know. So, (please correct me Zork or anyone if I'm wrong) this is a very RIPPED beta for getting a small file only for test and satisfacing the hope of testing 1.5 for one time. That's why we see bugs and crashes, and that's why they added a debug menu for exploring some areas.
      Anyways, I've tested this beta with PS1, PS2 and PSP plus epsxe and the glitches that were reported on the top of this thread happens in all plataforms, so is not your hardware who has issues.

        Can you tell me how exactly I use the patch? I use PPF and I select the ISO and the PPF file and click apply and I get an error. Sorry, I'm a newb

          The thread was intended for people to talk about glitches that might impede people's playing progress and or open new playing experiences for the community through hacking. It's too much to sift through mega threads and I feel the spoiler thread is slowly on it's way as well, so I made this thread to try and separate the important discussion from the general discussion to make it easier to find. We all knew the game is buggy but not all of it is a truly difficult fix, talk about things that are and aren't broken and eventually someone might get round to fixing it.

            so it's been some time since i have messed with emu's and what not... not a noob but sorry for asking... why am i having problems loading weapons/ammo? anyone else experience this...? any advice appreciated.

              Because this build isn't supposed to be playable and the feature likely isn't implemented yet.

                Quite the contrary: there's a huge chunk of additional code & data to be found in memory (around 0x800C0000), which suggests this version contains more stuff than the vanilla build. The crashes are more than likely caused by missing or unimplemented code CAPCOM simply didn't include, like for the weapons. Many of those procedures jump to memory address 0, which could never hold game data as it's used by the PSX BIOS, triggering crashes / freezes.

                  Many weapons don`t have their animation on Leon, Elza, or both, so the game crashes when you try to equip them or shoot. I tested all weapons on both characters (thanks to ePSXe quick save/load feature) and these are the weapons that worked for me:

                  For Leon:
                  Starter Handgun, Shotgun Remington, Flamethrower, M93R, Shotgun SPAS, MAC10, H&K MC51 and Hand grenades (Grenades howhever are useless, they don`t have sound or visual effect and don`t cause damage)

                  For Elza:
                  M93R, H&K MC51, and handgun SIG226 found in the corridor from Halloween teaser works, but curiously, when I create the same handgun by cheating the menu, the game crashes.

                  Any other weapon I tried, except for these, had crashed my emu or gave me bugs on the character.

                  Also, it`s possible to combine "Empty grenade Capsules" and "Nitro/Acid/Flame capsules" into normal grenades, but Grenade launcher crashes the game for both characters.

                  Regarding key items, I can`t pick up anyone. In the lab, however, it`s possible to use the Repair plug to restore electricity in the main shaft, without having the item.

                      The only bug I've come across is the one door down the steps from the heliport with Leon crashes the game whenever I try to enter it.

                        hand Grenades works for the gorillas; it has explosion animation in some angles, and the sound is the same when you skip a page from a file in retail games. lol.

                          F1 for quick save, F3 for quick load (this works on ePSXe 1.6, don`t know in other versions)

                          OK, I tried on Dogs and didn`t work, heared the page skip sound, only for explosive rounds.

                            Is there a bug in the inventory screen? Everytime I go in there, and select the knife, and it makes a box on the top-left corner of the right side (the item-placement side), and I can select through any item and weapon, but I can't get out of it when I am finished. How do I get out of it?

                            Also, is there a readme for this game? Because I read that there was a Readme.txt, but there isn't one in the compressed folder, just the game.

                              i do belive the knife crashes the game, and the readme is just the text posted here regarding the game.

                                Not sure if I understand, but you don`t need to select the knife in 1.5, your knife acts as a sub weapon and will be equiped automatically when you unequip your equiped weapon. If you mean replacing the knife slot with another item, it doesn`t work for now, but you can use default knife or create one in another slot on inventory and should work without any crashes.
