Because I think it could possibly be because the iso is only 140MB, which is really small. Ps1 and early cd systems have trouble reading data toward the center of the disc, so do you think it could be the lack of a dummy file? I've tried to add a dummy, but autodummy doesn't support it and I can't seem to fully extract the .bin to even do so. From what i hear, it seems like it has bare minimum dummies already, with success on emulators, ps1, and ps2 but not a thing about the psone.
It runs the same on both systems for me.

Nevermind, I've fixed the issue. Apparently the iso has no ECC, which unmodded systems don't respond well to. I ran it through ECC regen, regenerated all the sectors with secure scan and mode 2 options on, and it started up just fine. http://consolecopyworld.com/files/psx/eccr141.zip

I ran the WIP in ECCRegen and it did not detect any errors at all, even with secure scanning and mode 2 fixes. Though the patched one by Dark Biohazard had a ton of errors and they are now fixed.

Oh yeah, I was running the patch. I kinda just figured they would be the same given I expected a bugfix patch to change the game code itself rather than do anything major to an image, much less the ecc. However, I recall neither one worked till I did this. Weird.

I found after I patched the image that it refuses to boot, even on my other modded systems.

Not patching ECC/EDC causes all sorts of weird errors, no wonder the patch entirely kills the game if those sectors aren't regenerated the way the console expects them to be. Control code will, more or less, throw the CD into the state of retrieving incorrect data, causing the machine to retry reading as long as the ECC doesn't match with that internally generated by the hardware, causing the infinite loop whenever a corrupted sector is reached.

The game is very unstable on console for me also, specifically a (non stealth) chipped PSOne. It seems at least for me the laser likes a burn and runs smooth only for a while, before the game will start crashing and failing to load on a randomly consistent basis. I have no idea why, some of the suggestions posted above seem pretty reasonable, but my system deffinately hates this ISO more than it does the Biohazard alphas, something which I have absolutely no issues with at all.

For me, even the patched ISO is not working. If I only apply the hacks (PFF) then it runs fine, but if I use ECC Regen then it refuses t boot on any of my systems. Emulating it works fine but I want to play on actual hardware. It's not my laser lens and my PS2 is brand new and all my PS1's have new lenses installed.

My first sector access cheat on the psx :-),
I was trying to get Elza's handgun to show up in her hands at her selection screen but to no avail :-(
Elza's normal PLD crashes on Leon's character selection screen, but the other models load fine.
Elza's normal PLD probably crashes on Leon's selection screen because it has the biggest filesize of all the PLD's

189,888 bytes where as Leon's is only 188,940 bytes, all the other models fall below Leon's so they load fine.

Elza's character selection screen also crashes when equipping Leon's Handgun another filesize issue? Leon's

Handgun = 22,856 bytes where as Elza's Handgun = 22,676 bytes. Leon can use Elza's Handgun on his selection

screen though and it shows up properly in his hands unlike Elza.
