  • Need your opinion on the RE6 steam release

Pretty sure all the PC fans here know that RE6 is about to be released on Steam with a whole host of addons and extras, it's $39.99 and an undetermined file size. I've been waiting for the PC release since the RE6 announcement a LONG time ago. So, here are the things I need an opinion/answer on...

1: What do you think the file size will be?
I have a pretty limited internet speed, and I would need to know how many gigabytes we're talking here, not necessarily accurate to the kilobyte, but a ballpark figure. It could take a lot of stop and start downloading over the course of a week. Of course, if it's some ridiculously high number I might have to pass on it all together until my internet situation improves.

    2: Price vs. Game Quality
I've been hearing a LOT of people saying that this game is absolute crap. I'm not sure how much of it is well founded, or just stemming from the same hate that all RE1-3 diehards reserve for all new RE games. (No offense to the diehards, but there are a lot them around THIA xD) So in your opinion, is the game worth the price or should I wait for the inevitable price drop?

Keep in mind that I'm a pretty frugal gamer, I've almost never bought a title new off the shelf and I dislike steam immensely. Thanks in advance!

    1. 16gigs.
    2. the game is visually garbage. someone will call me an exaggerated, but its the truth. the visuals are Left 4 dead2 with a lot of bloom. no improvements despite the resolution, the textures are bad. if u tried the nvidia bench, its so failed... it has a crappy point system to cover the average fps and some dudes with 7970s are gettin 40fps... i get 9fps... the game compared to BF3 is like an Atari game.

so, by the pc port as itself, it does not worth 40usd. do not forget that in release, some bugs may appear and must be patched.

you should try it before paying.

If you want all extras and add ons of PC version, you should be buying the game right now and today LOL, since all extra content is available for free just with pre order, and the game is released on march 22, so it means there`s only two (or just one) days left for pre orders.

After that, the release price probably just go up, unless you prefer keep waiting a couple of months until its price drops.

If you have a very low internet speed, you may download from a friend`s PC, keep in mind the game has 2 DVD9, so we are talking about, probably, around 15-16 GB.

To be fair, the benchmark actually shows way more enemies than is actually present in the game (about three or four times more). Unless you're gonna be playing the "No Mercy" mode on Mercenaries, then the actual game should run pretty smoothly. As for whether it's worth a day 1 buy or not, give it a month or two and the game will most likely be $20 on one of Steam's weekly sales or something. If you don't particularly care about getting people to play with on the multiplayer modes, I'd just wait for a sale.

the dudes on screen should be heavy on cpu and draw distance on gpu. anyway, the whole bench is flawed. 2 min only... well... its a dx9 game.

          dude should buy Alan Wake.

I think you're better off waiting for the price to drop to like $19.99. But this is primarily because I thoguht the game was shit and would rather see you not support capcom on this game.

If you're a fan, buy. Otherwise, wait.

Probably best to just wait. It'll go on sale not long after it's released.

I thought part of Leon's campaign was pretty decent but the rest of the game was just pretty much trash. While I do love the classics, it's not because it's different. I thought RE5 was a fantastic game (if you don't look at it as an RE game), RE6 however is a game that has a lot of good ideas on paper but none of them translated well into the final product, leaving it to be a mess. RE6 left me more frustrated than any game in a long time.

Don't really care about graphics like most people. If the game is good, that's all I care about.

In my area, we're all in the same boat vi-save internet speed. -_- As for wanting the extra content, that's sort of why I asked before hand. XD

So it seems like the consensus is that the game is NOT worth forty bucks. XD I'll keep an eye on it and pick it up when a sale hits.

I already plan on picking up Revelations when it comes out, looks amazing. As for RE6, I really want to play it because it has two of my favorite characters. xD

Bio6 was built using DX9 API?!
