Excuse me, since the title is likely quite overused and for that, I apologize, but if I could take a moment of your time, I'd like to show an idea that recently came to me.
You see, as I finished playing prototype 1 a few months ago, the Initial vestiges of this idea came to being. Resident evil has always searched after the perfect b.o.w., but what if, in a way, it had already came up with a (excuse the pun) prototype of said creature?
I take you back to the year 2001, December. In the pal regions, resident evil gaiden is released to the masses and recieves its infamous reputation due to its...questionable aspects. But within this quagmire of the biohazard series, lies the b.o.w. parasite. Injected into Lucia, it eventually grows into maturity and seeks to escape, aided by its most valuable asset: the ability to shift forms and even speak as a normal human.
While I won't try to glorify this creature, due to its inherent antagonistic nature, I will use it as a base for my idea, which I shall now present.
What if, instead of a parasite, a group of cells is cultured and combined with a virus that, due to an unforeseen mutation, allows it sentience and the ability to assume a humanoid form? This b.o.w. though capable of shifting forms in a similar way to the parasite, would ultimately be defined by its ability to consume other viruses to better itself.
For example: it comes across the t-abyss and upon absorption, gains the ability to both operate in water efficiently, but also develop a hard carapace capable of deflecting bullets. Or, say it comes across G. It consumes it and gains the ability to undergo rapid regeneration when severely damaged, but due to the preexisting virus which composes its being, it is not in danger of mutating like g-birkin or g-Curtis.
Unlike the other b.o.w.'s like the tyrants or hunters, it'd be able to freely walk in society without being threatened. But besides this, it could also provide potential material for future installments by questioning the aspect of humanity itself and what it takes to make one a living, sentient, breathing being.
What do you all think?
