  • Hopes for the N64 RE0 Leak sometime in the near future

As we all know the past year or so has been a great year for hardcore RE fans (myself included). We were finally introduced to RE for the GBC and was presented more or less on a silver platter the much coveted RE 1.5. But leaves one key missing...the lost RE0 beta for the N64. Theoretically it was as complete or much more then 1.5 in regards to development. The problem why the plug was pulled being that the cartridge being too small to fit the whole game. Thus the project being traded off for RE2 instead. Managing to fit the 2 game discs to one cartridge. What I am getting at is I hope the beta N64 version of 0 comes to light hopefully this year or in the near future.

I one day hope to have the beta, but that is just a dream IMO.

Title of this thread is somewhat misleading, but yes, I also wish that this gem surfaces one day. But I didnt know it was so completed? All I have ever seen of it is "in train" area... You got any proof of how far they got with its development?

no not any proof however I did come across some info. hoever i'm not sure how reliable it is but it seems very logical.

I still don't see the draw of this one myself, though. The game was released in full on superior hardware.

I always thought of re0 64 as being the exact same game of what got released with the gamecube, the only changes being the voice acting and graphics. I remember hearing that the game was near enough a copy of what was released.

Pointless topic, and your point that it was as complete as 1.5 is wrong.

I would be interested in finding out how the scenario differed, since Noboru Sugimura didn't even remember what he'd written for the N64 version when they decided to move to the GameCube, which required rewrites.

The build is out there, good luck just waiting for it though.

The "build that is out there" is not happening. Certainly not this decade, at least. Period.
(+Calling it a build would be like calling a bunch of jars with organs soaked in culture a human being.)

People would have to wait for another source for that one to pop up somewhere if they're to remain hopeful of such a thing popping up in any playable form, or for a damn good pair of organ thieves and doctors to show up to save the day.

-Probably not as "complete" as was 1.5, but certainly better planned from the start.
-No space issues, platform shift was due to the N64 being on its death bed and other main entry projects were already in motion on other "next gen" platforms
-N64 was chosen as platform due to the swapping system, as the cartridge format has much faster data access than the old CD-ROMs did (Fortunately, the GC's RAM and disc access made it feasable on a disc based platform)
-RE2 N64 was Angel Studios (now Rockstar San Diego) pitching a technical showcase project to various pubs to basically show that space limitation nonsense devs/pubs spew out is pure humbug and tends to be a sign of sloppy devs not even trying.

Something that could be accurately called "Biohazard 0 N64" has been confirmed to exist outside of Capcom's grasp (at least at one or two points in time). Playability is an entirely different issue, and I wouldn't expect much at all in that regard.

Step by step. If we get the 1.5 in 2013, maybe we can start another 15 year search for BH0 N64, mmmm, not a good idea for me.

RE0 seems a pretty unique prototype and a nice piece of N64 history but not my most sought after by any means.
