I meant the warehouse that leads to the lab that contains the cargo area, freight elevator and boss fight.

I will support only if it's a retail release.

...and Outbreak 2 sold F-all, clearly people didn't like the first.

Using Capcom-Unity threads as a gauge for anything is some pretty great leap in logic. They're the lowest rung of fandom.

To be fair, CAPCOM's entire strategy with Outbreak was a failure from the start. Technically limited and shortsighted. It was a generation too early in every way. Online wasn't very big at the time and the game was touted as being a 20-scenario affair and was extensively promoted with them, but the actual game contained very little by comparison. The whole "yearly installment" thing also sold them down the river since that strategy has only really become commonplace in recent years (and not quite literally published as "SAME GAME #2").

When people bought Outbreak, they assumed they were buying a full game. Not something incomplete. Even the box it came in had screenshots that misrepresented the product because they depicted scenes that simply didn't exist on the disk. If CAPCOM gave a shit either, they would've published it as a dual-layer disk and had at least half of the intended scenarios... but they settled for 1/4 of what was intended and Europe didn't even get it online, which was the whole point of the game.

CAPCOM fucked up in every potential way.

Yes the lack of online gameplay was what pissed a lot of people off in Europe, and it contributed to Outbreak file 2's bad sales.
If the original idea was that Birkin was going to attack Miguel does that mean Monica was not initally in it and that the boss would have been an embryo from Miguel's body?

Quite true, and yet, this was the most memorable and satisfying online coop experience ever.

At least it would of been if Capcom had played their cards properly! We didn't get online play until file 2.

I think what would of worked better is if Capcom had given you lone wolf as the single player offline mode; with some training with the ai characters to teach you how to communicate in online mode. That way people wouldn't have had to communicate with the ai thus giving the game a better rating for single player mode. Unfortunately this was one of the main reasons why people didn't like it, the piss poor ai.

It wasn't an idea that got changed to Below Freezing Point, it was intended to be a separate scenario around the same location but in a different time. The final boss would've been G-Birkin rather than the G-Mutant, and Miguel would've been killed after getting his chest sliced open by him.

Rodriguez, who appears in End of the Road, was also meant to appear in that scenario.

Exactly which is the biggest reason id do anything to play it online again.

                        Really?

                        Really?

                        Really?

                        Ever?

I mean it lacked any sense of voice chat, so when it first came out most of the time other people playing went off and left you alone to die. It was poorly designed because it was unfinished, there was a lack of proper momentum and focus in most of the chapters, the random unlockables and events were a horrible idea, and the aformentioned lack of online play in Europe for the first time killed any chance of it ever being successful through lack of interest and the impact of sales worldwide on the sequel.

Those who payed to play the game on the Japan server in later years had the bonus that when you organised small groups of people to play the game actually had a chance to shine when people weren't acting like cocks to each other as much, but if you picked up and played either game on launch without anyone else you knew or knew much about how it was supposed to be completed online - it sucked donkey dong. Add to the fact that offline it was intolerable to play and gave you no sense of learning to even possibily accomplish scenarios because the AI was either as thick as pig shit or entirely selfish and refused to co-operate...

There is far too much rose colored tint on Outbreak as game going on in this thread. Don't get me wrong when I say this, there was a gem of an idea in there, but much like News Bot has clearly outlined - Capcom managed to dick almost every aspect of it over before the thing even got released.

And there is no way in hell Capcom will go back to it. It didn't work the first time for them, it's not going to work a second. The franchise, for better and worse, has moved on... and my years of pining for a return to old school survival horror constantly being crushed tells me Outbreak isn't going to fare any better. Your best hopes is for a spirtual successor that plays like Rev.

Read my post again. I acknowledge all of its faults (and you didn't even talk about the horrible lag and unbelievable loading times), but still, online coop has never been so intense and satisfying than in this game, period. Of course the offline mode is a bad joke, I was just talking about ONLINE COOP, with good friends who knew what they were actually doing.
Besides, the lack of voice chat was precisely what made the game so tense, it was brilliant. You spend like two hours on MSN to prepare your game, and in two minutes everything went wrong and you had to improvise hastily, using gestures and ad libs to communicate, this was hilariously fun.

Finishing Desperate Times on Very Hard with everyone alive felt like an orgasm. You just don't get this sense of accomplishment nowadays.

Yea it had faults, but its still the most fulfilling imo. RE being my all time fave series, with outbreak having by far the best online play in the series (Better than the trash in the later games.), it was great. Shame capcom decided to let greed get to them. They should of simply released EVERY scenario on 1 DVD. But they did not.

That could of saved it. It sold well for a spinoff, and there are alot of loyal fans for it. (And capcom knows that, as said on the unity forums), but at the moment capcom seems to be more worried about poisoning the series than saving it.

Not just online play, the single player is good too when you unlock lone wolf.

                                +1.
I don`t understand why many people keep blaming the AI instead of playing lone wolf mode since both games actually give that option (something impossible to do in modern RE games) so, if AI is awful and you don`t have smart human partners, just turn allies off.
Also, I don`t know you guys, but it feels much more like a RE to me when I play with no allies, since I have to survive on my own, walk the entire stages and solve all puzzles without any help.
Although, I have to accept that the character you choose modifies a lot on the game experience, I normally play with Cindy, Kevin, Alyssa or George because I find the other characters a true shit.
