  • Initial Demo of BH1.5-inspired UT Game Available for (free, self-contained) Download!

It's all there; all 263MB of it. It's basically the BH1.5 RPD featuring an all-new scenario that I hope some of you will enjoy (feedback encouraged; it's the first game I've ever built). This is the "non-enemy" version, since it is an early release. And no, it will not spoil the real BH1.5 (unless I am an unwittingly good guesser).

Why did I make this? Class project.

I had, they were in another thread a while back, but I shall provide more (allow me to compile them). Installation should be a matter of simply clicking affirmatively through the prompts.

For once I agree with ccrogers15, without screenshots or anything related, it's kind of pointless.

I agree too, I just wasn't in the position to grab any when I made the post. Here's a prototype video (it's like having thousands of screenshots):

The level has come a long way since then, but I don't want to spoil any more of the scenario.

It's nice to be able to move around inside the RPD in 3D. I was going to dust off my ancient BUILD engine skills and do something like this myself, but never found the time. Kudos for the effort.
Do you know where I can find the final build of Resident Evil 1.5?

I'm still interested in modifying this level to be a multi-player FPS map (the RPD actually works fantastically well as a "Goldeneye 64" type map with some slight modifications), but I'm not that experienced in game design, so maybe you'd like to assist?

Well, honestly I think it doesn't look really great... But then I realized that the RPD is kinda empty and bland looking to start with. So I don't know if 3d levels can ever look good. Something that really surprised me was the Fallout 3 RE2 mod, but it must have been very time consuming to produce and RE2 is way more detailed than 1.5.

So I don't know, with the game being leaked and finalized by a team I don't see the point anymore of mods trying to reproduce the game. Maybe if you could manage fixed camera angles? Do you think it would be possible? That would be a really interesting and original approach.

It will never look really great unless I heavily populate it with custom furnishings and materials. Ain't nobody got time for that...

I agree, which is why I am not trying to reproduce BH1.5. Rather, I attempted to craft an original game featuring the RPD.

I know how to implement fixed camera angles, but the problem is that I haven't figured out how to appropriately reprogram the aiming system or implement tank controls. This would be fine for a puzzle game like the one I've shared above, but once enemies are involved, it would be a bloodbath (setting up accurate camera trigger boundaries is a time-consuming bitch by the way). I'm sure I'll eventually get around to making a "fixed camera" version, however.

Yeah, the gameplay might be an issue. Are there mods out there with fixed camera angles?
