  • Resident Evil 5 Unreal Engine 3 tech demo video?

    I am looking for a tech demo video of RE5 using the Unreal Engine 3 - as opposed to Capcom's proprietary MT Framework. I saw it a couple years back on some random RE fan website but cannot find it anymore. If anyone knows where I can find it, or has a link to the video, I'd highly appreciate it! Thanks.

    PS: To clarify, I know there are photos, but I am looking for the actual video. Though photos are welcome too!

      I provided the earliest known screens of Bio5, attached below. Please note, the images are still-frames from a video.... absolutely no mention of the Unreal Engine?

        You mean that version of RE5? I only have a trailer, it was the first RE5 trailer, but never saw a demo.

          I don't think a video exists. Even the announcement video ran on MT Framework.

            Can't say I'm sure how authentic these screens are, but these are the only 3 I ever saw of the Unreal version of the game;

                  Yea thanks! These are the some of the same screenshots I saw before, and yea I remember seeing the post on Unseen 64 as well. I recall also seeing a tech demo video of it apart from just these photos on a fansite about 3-4 years ago. IIRC it might have been on a non American RE forum.

                  Oh and those red shirted zombies looked scary!

                    Well, this trailer has remainings of the battle on the testing stage in which Chris can crouch to avoid attacks and majinis look more agressive than in final version, as well as many other differences too.

                    Earlier gameplay than this I never saw.

                      I learn something new about these games, all the time... Thanks for sharing!

                        Thanks. Haven't seen this trailer in a while. The vibrant colors in most of the gameplay sections (not cutscenes) are consistent with the later UE3 RE5 pics floating around. Leads me to believe that at this point maybe they where transitioning from the UE3 to the MT Framework since the graphics look downright retail in the cutscenes. All UE3 footage shown in the 2007 E3 trailer (where discernible) must have been late-stage in development, thus having little noticeable difference visually from the MT Framework build - as opposed to the early looking UE3 pics Greko linked to. Perhaps the reason they switched engines was because the Unreal Engine 3 is known to have FPS problems when too many detailed enemies are on screen. I read somewhere that's why you don't see many multiplayer UE3 PC games supporting anymore than 32 players (particularly fps) is because it has problems rendering too many things at once without performance issues; a game like Red Orchestra 2 (64 players) being an exception.

                        I've been looking for the video a while now. Honestly I think I'll just give up looking for it, lol, because I recall trying to find it a year ago, and no luck either. Perhaps the post was deleted, or the site it was posted on was so vague (different language, nation) that there's no hope of finding it again. BTW I forgot to mention that the gameplay I saw was visually similar to the early UE3 engine photos Grekoo linked to, and I don't think it was meant to be shown off to the public.

                        In any case, it's still pretty cool knowing a RE game ran on the Unreal engine 3 at some point!

                        EDIT: Above I'm talking about the E3 2007 trailer, and not the first ever trailer which u linked to apparently. Sorry, the Youtube video you posted isn't viewable in Wisconsin (de fuck!?) so I just assumed you meant the E3 2007 trailer for some reason.

                          That's one thing I absolutely hate, when you KNOW you've seen something and then spend months trying to find it again turning up nothing. At least we have the screens still even if we're short the actual video.

                          @MarkG - I can still have my uses sometimes, even if I disappear from the scene from time to time

                            I posted the E3 2007 trailer, it was the second RE5 video and the first featuring Majinis if I`m not wrong, the first RE5 video was a conceptual teaser featuring a different Chris and showing neither gameplay or enemies.
