  • My Original Biohazard-style Music

I had to compose a partial soundtrack for my Survival-Horror game project last semester, so I thought I would share a few selections from it here and gather feedback.

    Investigation Loop (influenced by RE1/2/3):

    Tension Loop (influenced by RE1/2/3):

Final Boss Non-loop (influenced by RE:CVX):

Opening / Ending Theme Non-loop (influenced by RE: Outbreak):

Not bad man, not bad at all!

Boss Theme is my favourite, it has a nice Final Fantasy tone to it. You seem a natural.

The final boss music doesn't seem very exciting.

Exciting, perhaps not, it's still a nice piece of music. Sounds more fitting for an RPG more than a survival horror game though, sounds like something right out of Disgaia or some other similar RPG.

I really enjoy the first two tracks. Good job.

Are you familiar with Surfing on Sine Waves or Selected Ambient Works Vol. II? If RE music influences your creativity you might like those two.

Thanks everyone. Regarding the "Final Boss Theme", I should have clarified that it is more of a suite comprising three parts (the first and third are more tense while the second is calm). It's kind of an identifying character motif (as the Ashfords had).

Surfing on Sine Waves is great by the way!

This Ending Japanese Theme is my favorite, because it adapts very well to the finals while the helicopter leaves the mansion before it exploded.

The final boss theme seems like it would play at the part before it, since depending on how intense the boss battle is, you'd want it to be a fast and intense theme, but I can see how it's influenced by CVX. I do like the opening/closing theme, I agree with Geluda, it all reminds me of an RPG's soundtrack.

Love the boss theme but it lacks of something to make it perfect.
Also what programs did you use?

                    Doesn't everything? ;-)

If you think of it, I'd be delighted to add it.

I can see your influences in the 1st and 3rd tracks which are nice, perhaps the boss theme needs a better tempo or additional percussion in the last part to give that action countdown feeling?

Some parts sounds great and some others suffer a bit from the quality of digital instruments, but it`s good for a personal project. I would ask you for help if my RE project would be active.
I think a final boss needs something with more power, the third song is probably more suitable for an epic stage like a luxurious hall or a big church, perhaps it would work for a mini-boss battle similar to Alexia`s first form.

I agree about the percussion. I think the tempo is already pretty fast in the first and third sections, but I can see why the second would need to be sped up.

It's funny you mention that because that's precisely the boss battle I had in mind at the time.

Boss music reminds me of Castlevania. BTW what software did you use to compose that?
