Project Umbrella has secured an interview with Ryoji Shimogama, a series artist for BH1, 1.5 and BH2. He served as lead enemy designer (Licker, G, Ivy, etc), but contributed a lot of other things. The majority of artwork in the first Archives book is his. So if anyone has any questions, please post them and they will be asked.

What were your main sources of inspiration for both 1.5 and RE2 versions of Birkin? Also, what led to the decision to redesign him from the way he appears in 1.5 to the final release?
Also, what was your background story for Salem and Golgotha (such as Wesker's face) before they were scrapped and incorporated into Birkin's mutations? Were they to appear alongside in addition to Birkin before they were discarded?Last edited by Graco; 08-10-2013, 01:58 PM.sigpic

Are the "Suspended" enemies from Resident Evil Outbreak (in the Apple Inn level) REALLY an intermediate stage between zombie and Licker? What's the deal there? And if he had nothing to do with this design, then what is his opinion on how other artists have expanded on his famous creations.Last edited by Lead belly; 08-10-2013, 02:11 PM.

But I can answer that for you, no it is not a "stage." It is a freak mutation; a new creature altogether. Most of Outbreak's boss enemies were intended to be that.Last edited by News Bot; 08-10-2013, 02:16 PM.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

1.) Earlier in BH1.5's lifetime, the dog enemies in the police station were German Shepherds. They were later changed to the doberman (Cerberus) dog enemies from BH1. What was the reason for the change and which do you like better?
2.) Was the idea of children zombies ever proposed? If so, for what game(s)?
3.) Can you expand more on the concept of G-Annette?

Fans have seen designs for creatures in concept arts as well as in the finished games.
Was the gameplay the most important feature for the inclusion of an enemy? And, for the amount of BOWs that are in the final games, how many designs are rejected (for gameplay reasons or for aesthetic reasons)?sigpic
