I would type out this long paragraph about how they need to shape up, but you guys have already summed it up pretty well.

Capcom needs to get their shit together.

An open world sandbox RE game...that almost sounds interesting, but there are too many ways it can be fucked up.

          ...Nothing lasts forevermore...

Well, the next RE (if there is next RE at all) should have a more limited budget and resources for sure. They won´t be able to create another expensive title with multiple campaigns, lots of chapters, huge environments and tons of action and explosions. I hope they could use these limitations in a good way and create a more survival oriented game, with smaller locations and bring back some exploration and backtracking.

No, no, no.. and no xD. Don't you think the series already suffers enough of identity crisis? Fresh ideas is one thing, but turning your games into something that they not is another.
For example anybody knows about Remember Me (Capcom published)? Fuck no, but that's not the point; reviewers and [some] gamers bashed it for being too linear. Holy fucking shit, so what every game is suppose to be open world now? Panzer Dragoon Orta didn't have to be open world to be a great fucking game. It's an on-rails shooter and in case of Remember Me it's an on-rails platformer/beat em up. And it's much more than that if you don't have overblown expectations and want it to be something that it's not. The game succeeds in what it was striving to achieve.
I think that's the problem with Capcom's titles or rather their strategies and development approach. They try to predict what gamers expect, what they think would be fun, what they want to see, yet Capcom fail at it bombastically. RE series is a prime example. What RE is about? It's about horror, atmosphere, mystery, counting bullets, isolated environments. You can't have that with an open world.

Not sure why, but I didn't enjoy Dead Rising very much.

Agree. One of my friends is addicted to the series to the point where I always ask him if he ever plays any of his other games. I've played it and the only things I really like is that you can use just about anything as a weapon and you can combine items together to make new ones. However, I tried playing the story mode, and I did not like the fact that your character's speed at the beginning of the game is slow because you haven't leveled up. No action game with RPG elements I have played does this, and I thought it was stupid, as it could take you forever to get anywhere. (Not that I got anywhere far, as there were way too many cutscenes to try to play a game "co-op" by passing the controller around) My friend says he's already pre-ordered the Xbox One with Dead Rising 3 now that it doesn't have all of those DRM policies.

He says the third game will have sprinting, but I tell him that's irrelevant because I might not be getting any next gen console for a while because I just haven't really had time to play all of the games that came out this generation or in the previous. I mean, why go out and spend a bunch of money on a new set of consoles when I only own a handful in this generation due to my time being especially limited right now. If you've just started college, you'd know what I mean.

(I apologize if the second paragraph goes on a rabbit trail)

I've got this feeling, and on top of that, it IS the right time, that they are working on Resident Evil 2 Remake. This is just what they need to help them gain some support to help them with future projects. RE2 is their best selling RE game, they know fans love it, they know fans have been asking for a remake for a while now. And to make up for the horrible RE5/RE6, a remake of RE2 could really help them right about now. Make the RE2 Remake, and then go forward with RE7. If there was any time do the RE2 Remake, NOW is THE time. Seeing as how they are not doing good financially, and they have literally buried most of their IPs, they need to do this to gain not only money support, but fan support as well.

Can you really think of a better time than right now for them to do this RE2 Remake, if they are in financial trouble?

Yup - basically any other time where it might not turn into a shameless money grabbing last ditch effort to no only save the franchise, but possibly even the company.

I totally get what you're saying and in some ways it's correct, but I really hope that no one at the company tries that. It's just trotting out company favourites and whoring them to the masses... "Remember when you loved this game, well it's back, and for no real reason other than we're desperate for sales..."

                      Not a great reason.

When Remake was announced in 2001 people scratched their heads over the idea of remaking a game after just 5-6 years... Remake ended up being a surprisingly good outcome, but other successful remakes have been few and far between... and the bigger the game the more likely you're going to piss someone off than have them enjoy it.

Not even their HD rereleases have been selling well, don't expect any sort of throw backs from Capcom for a while.

Inafune and the original Megaman team is making Mighty No.9.It has a huge following.
Mikami is making The Evil Within which is a Real Survival Horror title.
Kamiya is working on Bayonetta 2 I believe.

                          Capcom is screwed!!!!
This doesn't matter. At all. Megaman fans aren't going to only buy Mighty no. 9 instead of a real Megaman game, they'll buy both, as long as the quality is up to scratch. Same with a survival horror RE, think RE fans are just going to pass it up for Evil Within (which I personally expect to be RE4 part 2). DMC fanbase can rot though, hope they never get another game.

Seriously dude!!!!!! Your comment is so obnoxious.

It does matter. Megaman fans are sick and tired of Capcom's bullshit. They cancelled not one but 4 Megaman titles. Why? because they don't know how to make it, because Inafune had the brains to make it work.Go check Inafune's Mighty No.9 kick starter page and tell me it still doesn't matter. Same goes for Mikami's project.

FYI, Im a Devil May Cry fan.........Yes DmC sucked, and there was no reason to change Dante at all. But DMC fans deserve better too.

If Capcom could somehow get the people who made REmake back onboard to make a REmake2, then I'm all for it. With this current team who made a game like RE6, nope.

Personally, the time period in which a bloody decent REmake2 could have been made has long since passed. Ever since RE4, that ship has sailed, never to return.
