However, considering the direction the series has gone, I would welcome a reboot. The story-lines of most 'eastern' series like MGS and RE become convoluted messes. I bought RE6 on Steam but haven't brought myself to play it yet.
Quite frankly I don't want the new BIO team to touch any of the old stuff. They're completely inept with all of it.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

And hey MGS is an amazing story

While I love the MGS series, the story on convoluted and MGS4 introduced a lot of retcons. I still thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.

The problem with this "back to the roots" phrase is that it means different things to the fans and to Capcom. For many of us long-time fans, these "roots" lie in gameplay design -- maze-like environments, exploration, files that tell the overarching story as opposed to cutscenes that spell every plot point out, etc. But to Capcom, these "roots" are superficial and aesthetic. They seem to think that throwing a "classic" coat of paint over the same linear, action-heavy gameplay we've had for a decade will cover up the mediocrity. This is evidenced by that one Capcom representative's comments (his name escapes me) about "positive fan feedback for Leon's [RE6] scenario."
If Capcom cares about the older generation of fans, they'll bring Claire back in some capacity for RE7. To be honest, I'd be happy with Claire and a completely new cast of characters. The only two featured in RE6 that I wouldn't mind returning would be Leon and (mostly) Sherry. I don't care about Ada anymore. But we know that Jake will return at some point due to RE6's epilogue as well as his sole existence being to appeal to impressionable teens who never played the classic games.Mass production? Ridiculous!

we're obsolete now, hell, we were obsolete the second the game became more and more 3rd person shooter based because most of the sales came from the newer fanbase. The only reason we might have a little clout now is because the newer fan base didn't like the latest game, thus them saying "back to the series roots".
Its a little late to pander to most of us now, as jaded as we are.
I think they just need to get the fuck off their asses and have someone in charge of the series who can tell a good story, make a good game, and remembers that mystery, puzzles, and being trapped in one area was once a big part of the series that added a lot to it.As cumbersome as it is now, the original setting of the first game is still much better than bouncing from the US, to China, to Eastern Europe, or to the underwater lair.
That wouldnt be enough for me to be a fan of the series like I used too again, but it'd catch my attention. I'm still damn certain that the next game is going to have like half a continent infected, lots of abandoned areas, or cities and probably ruin another classic character by making them as bland as possible.Last edited by Wrathborne; 10-16-2013, 10:32 PM.

I would rather have an all-new cast for BIO7. Somehow I doubt they are going to do it, but they need new main characters. But why do I have this feeling like they are going to bring back Chris and Jill for BIO7?

She's not my favorite, but I like her because she reminds me a lot of my sister.

1.5 Leon was less action hero esque, though.Visit the Resident Evil 1.5 wiki and contribute to (Hopefully), a central zone for all 1.5 info.
