  • Biohazard 1.5 40% vanilla comparison Biohazard 1.5 era 3 (Backgrounds and Models)

Biohazard 1.5 era 3 is special to me because the first scans I saw of 1.5 was that era.

Here is the differences I see between this era and (psm) vanilla era. I only took the backgrounds which I saw difference even if there were slightly.

Left era 3 and Right era 4 (vanilla 40%)
Click on the pic to see it enlarged

    Backgrounds
Judging from the screenshot its seems this era only had 7 rooms.

    Models and enemy placement
Elza and Leon didnt have animation like in BH Rebirth holding gun "ready to fire" but era 3 had more like BH 1 animation holding arms down.

    Elza
Artwork with era 3 clothes on left and era 4 clothes on right.

Elza model in era 3 had lower quality and slighty different clothes, no gloves and much shorter ponytail.
Left era 3, middle (elza getting eatin) still era 3 judging by german shepherds but with updated elza model which almost look like 40% one only without gloves and maybe no ponytail. Right era 4 (vanilla 40%)

    Zombies
Zombies seem to have same model/skin as in the 40 % version but their placement for different models are in different room.
Lobby: 2 civilian zombies, 2 cop zombies, 2 fat blonde zombies which makes 6 in total. This era probably didnt include zombies breaking in the lobby, enemies just were in the room.
Office A: 2 cop zombies, 3 fat black zombies which make 5 in total.
Shutter: 2 civilian zombies behind the shutter as in 40% era.
Office B: 2 cop zombies, 2 fat blonde zombies and 1 fat black zombie which makes 5 in total.
Firing Range: Zombies are not present.
Weapon Storage: Zombies are not present.
Chiefs Office: 3 cops zombies, 1 fat black zombie which makes 4 in total.

    Cerberus/K9
Dogs in this era were german shepherds instead dobermans.
Lower left era 3, upper left updated era 3 with new elza model (gloveless and maybe without ponytail because it is not visable on the pic) and german shepherds seems to be updated and it seems their ribs is not visable anymore (if i am correct). Right era 4 (vanilla 40%)

    Lobby: K9 not present.
    Office A: K9 not present.
    Shutter: K9 not present.
    Office B: K9 not present.
    Firing Range:1 K9 dog.
Weapon Storage: 3 K9 dogs. I believe they were in placement from the beginning.
    Chiefs Office: K9 not present.

I was judging enemy placement by screenshots doesnt mean its 100 % accurate.

If someone could mod 1.5 vanilla build to look like era 3 that would be awesome. To bad I suck with modding

extra angle which isnt present in psm build.

It's in the mzd & 40% build it's just not activated.

Nice comparisons! I've never seen some of these Bioflames images before. I always liked this build better, I just think its artwork looks more dynamic and spooky. Office B in particular looks very similar at first glance, but when you look close you can see how much of the detail and textures are different, don't know why but I honestly think era 3 looks better in detail as well.

Wait.. I'm confused.. isn't era 2 civilian leon, era 3 is first appearance of final combat suit leon which was also the only era they hold weapons with both hands..but seeing the later combat suit leon next to the earlier narrow firing range booths is confusing the hell out of me. I thought it went as
              era 1 Grant Bitman
era 2 civilian leon, first elza appearance, female zombie appearance only
era 3 final designed leon, both hands on weapons, our build
era 4 all future images with single hand on weapons but before the footage on the complete disc
era 5 complete disc, voice overs

I thought Elza was brunette during the early sketches and made blonde as it progressed until she became Claire? Or did they intend to do that all along but didn't alter the final build to reflect upon it?

Elza's motorcycle is missing on the left one. Interesting.

The number of stalls was reduced significantly. In fact, it was cut in half from eight stalls to four stalls. I wonder what the reason behind that was.

It also looks like she used to have little to no bangs. It's cool to see a different Elza model.

Nope, she was always blonde. Her first concept art clearly showed it being blonde (see your signature). But in later art, it looked almost brunette because of the different art style (see geluda's avatar). She was still blonde though.

Are they both in use with triggers in the raw build? Sometimes BS files get omitted in updates when developers for whatever reason decide to run with fewer camera angles in the room. Sometimes you get a rare glimpse of left overs from older builds when the BSS archive was updated with fewer camera angles than before. When they update the BSS archives ROOM10001 replaces ROOM10001, ROOM10002 replaces ROOM10002, but sometimes the developers only update four images in a folder of five, meaning ROOM10005 remains untouched from an earlier build of the game. Many of the angles in these rooms might actually be older and part of an older set of images, especially when for whatever reason the backgrounds have become out of use, some might even end up becoming obsolete them selves.

This is perhaps from a working era 3 build of the game.

I'm not sure about the closeup of the locker in the Armoury (see below), but the Lobby shot is for the cut-scene where the zombies break through the shutters.

                              That's an early Era-5 cut-scene angle:

The squad car on the left has been shifted around, and more details have been added, naturally.
