I didn´t tried Dxtory, but it doesn´t seem to be free. OBS is completely free and files can be edited on editing software, you just have to find the right settings to encode them.

Dxtory is best. OBS raw files are awful for editing. OBS is only good for broadcasting to TwitchTV. Also, DarkSpyda, how did you do that? Hex editor, or by rapidly switching the screen resolution in the PC version? lol.

I used one of mortician's tools called "Room Jump" to set all doors in the first room to lead to the last room of the game. I went through two rooms in the entire playthrough.

There are a number of solutions listed. The only problem I had with Room Jump was not running as administrator. When I moved Leon around the room, the coordinates wouldn't update until I ran as admin.

Sourcenext? Isn't that the Japanese version or something? I use a copy of Resident Evil 2 Platinum that I got from Amazon. From what I'm reading the platinum version was released before the sourcenext version, back in 1999.

You're not really going to find a good screencapture program without buying it or getting it from somewhere else. Most of the free ones are crap.

That's what I was afraid of.

I'll look into OBS, I'm not really looking to spend money on something like this right now. I don't have any editing software though.

A lot of the problems recording RE2 (screen flashes) can be fixed by changing the device setup for RE2. The recorder I use is LoiLo Game Recorder

It is free and comes with a video editor. The video capture comes out dark so I use the editor to turn up brightness by 0.40 and contrast by -0.05

I don't mess around with all the different types of recorders so there could be much better choices out there now that I changed RE2's device setup.

No tricks this time. Just Claire B on hard. The many deaths I suffered weren't even from zombies. More like being gang-banged by lickers and cerberus - this explains the many saves. A grand majority of the zombies can be avoided by staying the hell away from the library until you have both the crank and the cog wheel. But if you want 5 zombies in every room then by all means enter the library at the beginning of the game. Route planning. Now I miss REmake.

Someone said something funny to me once, which makes perfect sense now. That person said on a non RE forum in a post that RE would not become awe by 2013 and that I should try to appreciate other games, besides RE. Well, was that person a fortune-teller or what? RE has not been awe in ages and this is 2014.

Do you mean in terms of new installments like RE6 or the mods being released? I feel as though modding rejuvenates RE, especially the total conversions like Distant Memories. It'll be like playing RE1 all over again with no prior knowledge as to what it'd be like. So Resident Evil can be awesome again, but just not by the hands of greedy-business-suits Capcom.

Well I tried OBS, but it won't work with my computer's default video drivers. They're up-to-date and everything, but they're just incompatible. This is the only program I've had trouble with.

Any other suggestions in terms of free screen capture programs before I have to whip out my wallet?
