  • RE1.5's R.P.D Map In RE3?

I saw this image on tumblr and it has me wondering. Is that really the 1.5 Police Station map laying on the table?

It looks similar but I don't think it is. The front of the maps looks like the RPD entrance..

Oh and did you know that Raccoon City might be located in Manhattan? Phone numbers, licence plate numbers, and and some other stuff point to Manhattan.

Pretty interesting stuff. Even if it wasnt the 1.5 map the other bits are nice little finds.

The outlines make it pretty clear it's not 1.5's map.

Except this is total and utter rubbish.

Checking where Manhattan is on a map, we can see that it is not in the Mid West (stated ingame several times)
Plus its a mountain city, surrounded by mountains - fits more into places like Colorado - which is kinda Mid Western U.S.A.

Its the same thing with Silent Hill and it's location.. The official stuff states it is in Maine, New England - yet it has plates from California, NY references etc..
Its a bit like Springfield on The Simpsons, we are never really meant to know where it is .. and when you dig - clues don't fit in.

Though it is fun to find all the hidden stuff in the BGs. RE2 had the Kong Pizza box hidden just out of frame in the RPD detective offices on the East wing.
They reuse stuff all the time. Posters from 1.5 showing in RE2.

There are California plates too (one that is directly replicated from the movie "Speed" in particular). That's because they're filler and don't mean anything.

Raccoon City is in Missouri or Illinois.

I had a feeling it wasn't the 1.5 police station map, but I wanted to know what other people thought.

There's also a poster in RE3 that says "BIOHAZARD 4".

Wha... Where did this come from? Where did you get this information from?

                Scratch that, it's just Missouri.

I wanna know why you think it's Missouri.

Also, have you ever been to the U.S. News Bot?

Some of it for geographical reasons, the rest based on information from the developers. They never bothered writing the state in stone, which is odd because before "Raccoon City" existed, the first game's location included the town's various names and its states. It'll all be compiled for the Raccoon City article on PU.

I also haven't been to the U.S., yet.

How big is Raccoon City? It always felt like it was like Kansas City, MO to me (based on the description from the games and living in St. Louis, it is definitely not St. Louis) but could the city be bigger like Chicago?

Raccoon City reminds me the most of Michigan, maybe even Detroit.

No, despite what Operation Raccoon City would like you to believe.

It's a small country town that received an extreme amount of development in a very short time that resulted in it being classified as a mid-sized city. It's nothing like Chicago or Detroit.

I've traveled through a VERY small town called Raccoon in Kentucky; not shit around there except a few gas stations and a motel. I live in Louisville which is the "big" city, but most of my relatives live in Shepherdsville, which reminds me a bit of Raccoon City.

Closer to my house there's a park that has a mansion in the center of the forest. It's been there for a few hundred years, and the original owner's whole family is buried in a cemetary out front. The building is now used as the hq for park officials. It's pretty cool to look at late at night when you can see the glow of the lights in the windows through the trees in this great mass of darkness. My friends and I have always called it the arklay mansion since the game came out (when I was much younger, we'd have fun sprinting towards it like we were being chased by dogs lol). I'll have to take some pictures.
