  • Look for Skilled People to work on a RE game.

Like the title suggests I'm in the works of getting a game started. I need folks with all the skills necessary to reach this goal. I'll will start a thread for this project once I can get a team started. It will be for a PSX game just to clarify. Just let me know if your interested and your skills.

    Thank You

Just out of curiosity, a Bio/RE fan game?

With no intention to sound annoying, what are your skills in this collective effort?

^ That was going to be my first question, but I didn't want to come off as being rude

Who knows? He/she could have a pretty good story-line that can actually be implemented into a Bio/RE engine (no run-time file modding bollocks, I'm talking about real dis/assembly programming), or some other skills. I was just trying to get the ball rolling...

...but it would have to be pretty damn good. I sincerely doubt that anyone would be willing to put in the effort only for someone else to take all the credit.

My skills are mostly in graphic design/photo editing however I also have some in music production (though I lack the knowledge of reading sheet music though I do it by ear). I have no programming knowledge though I wish I did. I also have 2 years graphic design and 2 years of multimedia production. As to the game I will simply say it's a remake however all it's original elements are in my opinion are rough and unrefined. I will hint and say that Revelations may have been inspired from this game. I don't want to go much further until I'm certain it will happen. The plan is to have this possible 3rd entry be part of a trilogy that includes IGAS' "Resident Evil 2: Prototype" and Gemini's and Sonic's "Resident Evil: Behind the Mask". I want to contribute what I can even if I'm given little credit. I'm still working on story though the original game's story will be my base. I want it to be more or less canon. I may write it like a script so I can give as much details as possible.

          And to clarify I'm male.

Well, I'm interested in your graphic design. I /might/ be looking for someone in that area soon, myself.

As for the canon angle, can't say that I'd suggest that. Our in-house human encyclopedia and others may disassemble and tear you to shreds for that. ...but, of course, you're most certainly more than free to express your creativity however you feel. From experience, whatever your vision, run with it.

Concerning programming language, don't beat yourself up. Many great works of art are created by teams of people with many varying skill sets... but I have to suggest presenting some of your work. It's kind of difficult to take someone's word on the internet, these days, when one's unaware of the other's experience, most especially with the visuals.

...IGAS and the wonder-duo of Gemini and Sonic... those are some pretty huge footsteps to follow. After all, the two separate teams have set the gold standard in the current era of modifying, programming and graphics design, so far as Bio/RE scene is concerned. I'm not saying that anything similar can't be done, but as seen with development of those two projects, it seems to take major dedication and much time to accomplish real, presentable results. Just be sure that you're certain you know what you're getting into when trying to compare or make an attempt [...].

All said, I sincerely wish the very best of luck... I will be following this thread to see if anything develops.

Alright. I'll spill the beans. My plan is a Gaiden remake. I want to change some of the story especially the ending. The cool thing with this project is I'm completely open to suggestion and input. Criticism also encouraged. I have some idea's for the beginning and some camera angles. This is the starting area (2nd floor) of the game.

This thread is more for recruiting. I'll start one went I'm confident I have enough input. I will give credit within the game credits to anyone and everyone that can help make the game better. Big or Small.

I myself was thinking of how cool a Gaiden remake could be.

I'm in. I can't do too much, but I can probably make the inventory screen, and item sprites. I can even create a font for the game. I can anything sprite-related.

If it helps, I can read sheet music. I've been playing for over 10 years. I play Baritone/Trombone. Dunno how to create music, but I could always give it a try.

Awesome. Chris your hired. I so far have 2 now (not including myself). Blackpower said he'd do enemy concept art. Now if only I got programmers, pre-rendered background artists, and someone to work on models and I think we'd be set. Concept art and sprites are a good start. I'll get a thread started later this week.

I might be interested in helping but I'd rather see something get done and past the recruitment and planning stage. I can only semi-model but I can do "ok" textures for characters and enemies. I'm not sure I'd fully commit to something because of what happened involving Distant Memories...

If you want you can use what I've done for Distant Memories so you at least get some of the generic zombies out of the way.

Also, don't just limit yourself to PSX. Why not for the PC as well? Honestly that's my only interest.

I'll see what I can do. PSX is the goal however PC may be another option. Most of the model work I need done is retexturing. Expecially for Leon and Barry. I'll need a Lucia model for sure. Some zombies will need to be retextured and some others may need to be modified. Like I mentioned a thread will get started this week and a concept I'm throwing together for a main menu background.

There are many benefits to using the PSone as the platform of choice.

For starters, a PSone game can be played on multiple consoles - the actual PSone, PS2, PS3, Vita and PSP, not to mention all other systems that support PSone emulation (PC, Wii, etc).

Second, all PC versions are crap. If you're even lucky to get them to run at full speed, you're still limited to modifying a bloated executable - trust me when I say that navigating them is a horrendous process. Bio2 SourceNext is nearly 6mb, for example.

Third, the Bio2 beta has been completely disassembled and is pretty much putty in the hands of anyone with the proper knowledge. I absolutely love to build my own personal Bio games using that engine (nothing released, other than that Bio1.5 mix).

Almost next to nothing is really known about those PC executables, which in-turn, would make this project nothing more than a simple mod.

                        That's asking for a lot [...].

The most important of these being someone to model/render the static background images. Other than Sonic, can't say that I've seen anything great, and I'm absolutely sure that he's got a full plate.

Leon is probably fine as-is, Barry could use some retexturing and slight model work, and Lucia would likely have to be done from scratch. I can't say that I've ever played Gaiden, but I'm sure that a lot of work has to be done in this area.

So far as I know, Leo has a decent model tool. I'm not sure of its progress, as I haven't visited re123 for many months, now, but the last I checked it was still in-development.

It's funny they used that 1.5 image but ingame he's got something else on. Leon and Barry are wearing similar outfits.

Hey Mark I have a source code that I want to get compiled. It's originally for linux however I'm sure it can be compiled to run as a Windows executable.

I had a feeling it was Gaiden... ;-)

Well, my speciality is anything and everything related to music and audio technology (keyboard, composition, arrangement, production, engineering, etc), and I'm fluent in both Logic Pro and Pro Tools, with ample experience in Max/MSP. I also have rudimentary programming skills in ANSI C '89, C++, Java, and MATLAB. If it helps, I'm quite familiar with the Unreal Development Kit (I made my own version of BH1.5 with it, including original music) and Google SketchUp. Oh! And I am an absolute beast in MS Paint :-).

I'm not sure how helpful I could be, but I would really like to see this project take off. This trilogy is just the message Capcom needs.

By the way, I suggest knocking on the doors of Team 96.
