  • Rank the Resident Evil Games by Voice-Acting

Man it sure has been a while. Back before RE6, Revelaitons and...I think that's it? This might have been before DSC too.

From best to worst, how would you rate the various RE games judging just by the voice talent?

Also holy hell how did I not include RE CVX on my list? I guess I just meant to slight it by not even putting it on there since it was that bad.

Great (No complaints I can recall):
        RE6, RE5, RE2, RE0

Good+ (Great overall, with a few character's VAs either annoying or unpleasant):
        RER, RE4, REDC

        Average:
        RE(GC), RE3, RECV, RE Outbreak 1 & 2 (Excluding File 2 NPCs), REUC

        Dear God...:
        RE(PSX), GS1

          RE5.

The lines and delivery of them in that game will never be topped. My fav line is Chris' "Flame on, asshole"
Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

The voice acting has been pretty good since BIO2. The goofy, poorly localized and mistranslated dialogue is the primary cause of bad delivery in the series, with some exceptions here and there of genuinely bad acting.

BIO5 and BIO6 are great in terms of acting quality.

              My argument against RE5...is this.

When your villain sounds like this guy, its bad.

RE3's voice-acting was pretty bad. The "accents" of the Russians and...whatever the hell Carlos was supposed to be were just downright dreadful.

                MEAKKHILE!!!!!!

And I think Steve alone pretty much sinks Code Veronica.

RE4's voice-acting was perfect though. Same for Zero. Although old Marcus develops a thick accent for some reason....

I AM VINCENT... THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!!!
                    "I'm not Vincent, I'm AAAAAARRRKK !!!"
                    "Vincent it's your mother ! - MY MOTHER ?!!!"

                    Pure comedy gold

The voice acting in GS1 is almost as funny as the original RE.

Zeros voice acting was bad. It was stiff, flat, and the dialogue didn't help much either.

Whoever voiced Enrico in that game...just ouch.

I rewatched all the cut scenes and stuff and the game has not aged well, if the game came out like 2000-2002 the voice acting would have been pretty good.

But yeah its pretty painful to hear the characters speak, Even Richard Waugh as Wesker couldn't do much with the rotten lines he had in the game.

Again they used the "Are you fantasizing about me/want to ask em out on a date?" Joke, last time I heard it was in RE3 with Carlos and Jill...it wasnt funny then and it wasn't funny when they used in in RE0.

                        ...REZero came out in 2002,

And what is wrong with Billy's or Rebecca's voices? The Billy flashback is one of the most heartfelt moments in the series.

Also if REZero Enrico isn't the exact same voice from the original RE1, then he's obviously doing an impression of it. They sound identical to me.

Thought it came out in 2004? Damn, getting old sucks.

But regardless Billy and Rebeccas voices sound very stiff for the firsts half of the game, this is mostly amplified by the dialogue(ME!? Join up with you, a criminal!?), but even so its not more until the end of the game that they sound more natural.

Doesnt matter that the voice actor who did Enrico is doing an impression, its all about the end result, and the end result is pretty bad. Sounds like hes speaking from the back of his throat really, and it sounds forced.

I know this was all from a different era in game making, I actually forgot that Zero came out BEFORE REmake and not the otherway around, but I still stand by my opinion that the voice acting in the game is not very good.Granted in an RE game, that isnt a surprise, especially the earlier games.

I vote RE 1 PSX as number 1 for sheer hilarity. I wouldn't have laughed at it as much as I did over the years had it been done well. It wouldn't have spawned all the great so-bad-it's-good quotes and memes it caused had it been good acting. It would have made the dialogue rather bland and forgettable in the first game if it wasn't so god awful.

As for the games with the best, probably 5 and 6. The rest had decent voice acting overall, with a few character exceptions.

RE1's was shit for obvious reasons, RE2's and RE3's was decent, and I think every Resident Evil game after that had pretty good voice acting.

Steve's heavy Canadian accent in CODE:Veronica was a bit too much for me though.
