Why is Shinji Mikami considered the "Father of Survival Horror"?
The gameplay looks atrocious and most of the horror elements are just recycled ideas from silent hill, Resident Evil,....
More than I originally thought... this was the wall of the booth for TEW at the FanExpo in Canada last week (credit for the pics goes to SG79 over at Biohaze).
He's basically trying to reenact Resident Evil 4's hold up, probably the biggest success in his whole carrier, all the while adding some Silent Hill-ish twisted vibes and some infiltration/survival mechanics ala The Last of Us.

Uh, i thought of Outlast in the hiding scenes....
Its universal the feeling of copying... 1$ for each game copied
For someone who's criticized a game for being too much like its predecessor he seems oblivious to it happening with his own project.

Although I still feel that he and alot of the RE community don't realise when RE4 was at it was at its horror best. It was in the village and the enemies were spawning in at a high rate and the player was constantly forced to retreat to building and room and barracde themselves in. At that point in games crow control had required the player to be aggressive, or on the retreat.
TEW looks like the rest of RE4 in the Silent Hill universe, which is a massive shame.
