Thing is, survival horror outside of indie games, doesn't generally tend to do well. This isn't the late 90s where capcom can just ignore meh sales. Even though 6 didn't do as well as they wished, it still sold over 3 million copies. With the main series, they want profit first.

If anything, shouldn't it be the other way around?
They can't make survival horror games for the numbered entries anymore. They HAVE to sell millions of copies because RE is a big name now. If they just listen to fans and make survival horror games, then Capcom cannot compete anymore and it means not only the end of RE, but also then end of Capcom (that's their biggest franchise).

Hate RE6 all you want but it has sold almost 6 million copies.

          I don't mind RE6 at all. I had a blast with it.

I sincerely hope the censorship will go away. Gory headshots with heads still attached to the bodies just don't feel right.
The mysterious voice does indeed sound a little like Ada, but is much deeper. I don't think it's her nor Carla.
Gameplay is good, it's a fine mix between REV1 (health system) and RE6 (free camera, sprint), with simple melee mechanics ala RE4 and a nice "command" dodge : it basically works like Alyssa's backstep, except you can also side step and forward step. Useless to climb stairs though, if you know what I mean.

If it is Carla, thats a wasted opportunity for getting a new villain.

But yeah, this censorship is getting awkward, I miss my exploding heads.

Just for the sake of gauging everyone's opinions am I the only one appalled by the environment design in this? It looks as if there's no consistency in the art direction, and it ends up looking an absolute mess.

Its a Prison that looks like some kind of outbreak caused by a virus experiment happened in it.
What were you expecting? The Yellowbrick road?

You mean how it varies from looking like a realistic, dirty prison to something Silent Hill otherworld ish?

Remember the artwork for The Evil Within when it was Zwei?

                        You got me!

No need to be facetious if you simply don't share the same point of view. The issue I take is that it doesn't look like a prison. It doesn't consistently look like anything. Both Code Veronica and RE4 executed a much more believable design without compromising their respective level progression.

That's roughly the sentiment, yes. I can understand dilapidated structures, rust, and blood, but the area itself seems nonsensical and a bit too game-like. I had a similar issue with a lot of RE6's designs, particularly in Leon's campaign.
The earlier games and especially the Outbreak series created something that remained relatively believable while fitting the way the scenario should progress. It really comes down to personal preference, and I'm just not excited about what I see.

Well, it is a twisted playground filled with traps created by some insane string-puller so it's kind of expected, in my opinion.

The footage we have seen seems to take place in the lower areas of the facility, more like a basement area. At the end of the demo it seems like it is opening up into the first floor/main prison area.
