Just picked up the third Tankōbon today. It's some good stuff, much more interesting than Marhawa Desire. Definitely takes place in 2014 too.
Spoiler:
Shame about Brown and Inez. They were good characters."I've got 100 cows."

It only goes up to chapter 29, but with MD having 38 issues I would say there is only one volume left to come now. However, it does officially clarify that Heavenly Island is a direct tie in to both Revelations 2 and Umbrella Corps.
If Shényā Pharmaceutical are behind the events of UC, and DC Douglas has hinted Wesker backstory, perhaps we'll finally learn more about the 'giant pharmaceutical corporation 'S' that Wesker has been in contact with since Umbrella's demise?
(I know this was later confirmed as Seashell/Tricell but I'm just throwing it out there...)Last edited by TheBatMan; 02-26-2016, 03:25 AM."I've got 100 cows."

Shényā being "S" would still be possible. In fact it would end up making more sense and serve as an even better tie-in, since this manga and Umbrella Corps are covering all bases.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Does it clarify at all why Alex left this island to the one in Revelations 2? Are there any references to the vast amounts of test subjects that Spencer sends to this island?http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Chapter 32 is called The Truth:
Spoiler:
Claire mourns Inez' death and turns out they're being observed by the Shaman. They have a lengthy exchange of words where he talks about the island, his shamanistic actions and the link with B.O.W. development, Marilou's husband and then reveals his true identity: Alex' associate. Paul will have more precise information later on.
Heavenly Island will take a hiatus of ten weeks, resuming around the middle of May.Last edited by Ridley W. Hayes; 03-03-2016, 11:45 AM.

Spoiler:
The villain is Dirk Miller (ディルク•ミラー), a former Umbrella researcher and someone Alex Wesker trusted completely. I've roughly translated the majority of the exposition.
DIRK: Aha. This island is a test site... To look for the strongest organism. The Jǐn Dú Project... That's what we called it... It's an ancient Chinese curse... I'm sure you're aware of the "Jǐn Dú." Later I got a hint from an experiment. Something large, a small snake, was placed into a container with bugs, something small-- a hundred kinds of insects. It's said that the powerful curse dwells in the one who remains in the midst of fighting each other. The B.O.W.'s we created fought under a variety of conditions. We were trying to create the strongest virus from the surviving individual... Based on the theory of optimal survival of the fittest, the B.O.W. on this island was made from the test subject. Programmed to target "those with superior combat abilities." This island is the Jǐn Dú's "container", no one can take it away. ...I also imprinted that behavior.
JULIE: I wonder if he destroyed the cruiser's engine for that...
DIRK: The B.O.W.'s are created by injecting a special virus into the human body. Therefore we decided to locally procure the "raw materials." It was easy to recruit the island's inhabitants with their deep superstitions if I played a shaman... With reasoning like that, the islanders... are insane. You people wouldn't understand the value of this unique and magnificent experiment... The experiment facilities Alex prepared on this island were indispensable to B.O.W. development, along with the virus she left behind. The closed environment of an island was suitable for conducting the Jǐn Dú Project. The project was going smoothly, but before long, my associates carrying out the project disappeared. The Jǐn Dú Project began culling the researchers, not just the B.O.W.'s. In other words, I will be the consummator of the Jǐn Dú Project. Alex Wesker once placed her complete trust in me. My name is Dirk Miller.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium
