In all fairness, the second movie, at least, didn' have to be the total loss it ended up being. I can think of any number of ways to have improved that movie, without even altering the story that signifcantly. If they'd gone, 'Anderson is a moron, give some random person a hour with the script,' and that random person was me, they'd have been saved!
Well...not saved. I can't work miracles. But it would have been a much better tasting pile of dog shit.
First, Alice has no super powers. No. Fucking. Super. Powers. Should she be infected? Sure. Why not? It could be an interesting plot point, knowing she's infected, but with something different. This means zombies can actually put her in danger. Hah. Not really. I still remember her fighting them in the first movie. But they'd at least attack her. In Apocolpse, zombies won't even fight her. She's too pretty.
That would, automatically, improve every scene where Alice appears and saves everyone. Suddenly rather than the knawing sensation of, 'Eh, Alice will save them,' you have some tension and stress. Other characters will suddenly have to play something other than a bit part, while Alice tap dances through the film, crushing zombies with her thighs and killing Nemesis with her nipples.
The second thing would be to give Nemesis his sack back. He's not gonna turn good, and he's not gonnan die just because a helicopter hits him. He's going to relentlessly pursue them throughout the movie. The last shot of him will be waving a mutated and tenticle wielding arm at them as they escape, before getting nuked. Not only does this make him truer, it makes the movie more scary. Which was the point of Nemesis. You could even have him clip there helicopter so he's why they crashed, not the nuke.
Next, remove some of the high-level stupid. Obviously scenes like Alice driving through the church window to kill the lickers would be gone, because she no longer has god-like death powers. But other, even more stupid scenes exist. Example: Umbrella builds a giant metal wall around a city and no one from anywhere else notices. Umbrella lets a few thousand people out the city...all of whom are quite happy to lie for a company that unleashed zombie hell upon them. And despite all those people and video evidence no one believes they did anything wrong.
Well, the world is gonna end soon anyway, so it's pretty simple. First, loose the giant wall. Have the US army barricading the city, minus a wall, like the games. Then, since people did escape with a tale to tell, and a movie of the damned thing is released as well, have Umbrella caught...just like the games. Since the world is gonna end it makes equal sense. Just have the good message of Umbrella followed by some iffier stuff. 'The beleagured Umbrella corporation today caught a break...' You know the deal.
With those changes, the story is still crap, but it's at least gonna be a better movie. Zombies will be a danger, even when Alice is present. Nemesis will be a figure of fear, rather than someone to point and mock. The sheer stupidity of the stuff with Umbrella would be different.
And that's just off the top of my head. I once wrote a detailed description of how to make the movie better, changing things within each scene to have it make more sense.
On another note, has anyone got a link to Extinction? No hope in hell I'm paying to watch that pile of crap.
You know, i think it's really funny people bitch to death about Alice having powers after being infected, yet no one give a piss about Weskers powers after he was infected.
And i also think it's really funny you've judged the movie without even seeing it. Really you're saying "I think it's gonna be crap, but i wanna see it. But i'm not paying!"

Wesker is different. He was infected by an early form of the G-Virus.
Alice was genetically altered by umbrella. And is a Robot that has Jesus powers. Umbrella made alice just to destroy destroy for some reason. Oh and she has electrolytes. It's what plants crave.
Wesker is just physically enhanced by his infection. He is like a tyrant.
This is all based on biased opinion. But Alice is more powerful than Wesker.
Well, personally, I thought the idea of Super-Wesker was crap too. But he didn't come up in the second movie, and, as I said, I haven't seen the third. For me, I feel Wesker would have been better left dead rather than re-animated as a super being. If nothing else it makes the whole idea of bio-weapons irrelevant. Why make a powerful, lethal but unthinking and impossible to control monster when you can make a squad of super-soldiers? Sure, the risk might be great to the troopers, but Umbrella isn't exactly gonna mention that, are they?
You're right, I am judging the movie by what I've read in this thread. And on other sites. And the trailers. I know enough to know it's going to be utter crap. All the water in the world is gone? I can think of several ways in which water could be massively reduced...but they involve the world becomming colder, and plants would have a relatively limited effect. Yes, in lower areas they do effect percipitation, but in upper areas it's gonna rain, plants or no. Yet I knew that about the second movie, too, and I still watched it. Why? Because it's Resident Evil and I'm still an RE fan.
Plus I like to have physical evidence I'm better than Anderson.
Alright, I just watched the movie. It was...not as awful as I anticapated. I won't say it was good. For a horror movie it failed, completely, to do what it was supposed to and scare me. There was nothing in the movie I didn't see happening about ten minutes before it actually did. Oh, not the exact details, but I had a general idea before it happened. I certainly saw all the 'look, scary monster JUMPING AT YOU!' bits before they happened.
It still had a lot of problems, but it was aided by the fact that someone had obviously realized some of the problems of the first two movies. I shall explain behind a spoiler thing. Because I'm kind, generous and don't like to hurt people.
HAH, who am I kidding? I love to see you people suffer.
Spoiler:
Alright, make no mistake, this is still the Alice show. Carlos and Claire are both there...but replace the names and no one would notice. Savior of the human survivors? Alice. Defeater of zombies and crimson heads? Alice again. Who fight the end boss? MORE ALICE! Whose blood is required for Umbrella's latest evil project? AND to save the world? You guessed it.
Oh, I forgot to mention Wesker. In fairness, so did they. Bar the fact he had sunglasses you could have called him 'Corporate Asshole 23' and no one would have noticed.
All supporting characters do get a bit more screen time this go round, though. Some even are allowed to...develope a little. True, it's only in regard to how they react with Alice, but hey, it's a start. Some of them even look semi-competent in how to survive, which you'd really expect since they have survived for five years in a world of zombies.
Most noticibly of all, Alice's powers have been toned down some. Rather than killing everything with her mind when she does that it actually effects her. She's still stronger and faster than a normal person, with increased agility to boot, but there are moments when you feel she might be in some danger. They even show a major weakness...Umbrella can turn her off. Dun dun dun. I'm also pleased to say they removed the truly crap idea of making it so you, apparently, didn't know if she was good or evil by having her try to help people straight off. That was truly a crappy idea.
The enemies are also somewhat improved. The crimson heads are suitably lethal and the end boss is obviously an attempt to make up for what a pussy Nemesis was. Hell, he WAS Nemesis. Tenticles, one funky eye, serious skin complaint. Completely unstopable and not, most importantly, so impressed by Alice's boobs he changes sides.
This is not to say there aren't problems. Some, like the water thing, just doesn't make any damned sense. Even assuming, somehow, the virus got into to the sea and destroyed all life there water still wouldn't be an issue. Now, oxygen, you might have issues with...but that would make it hard to have Alice naked. Plus, even in the desert, you see damned plants all through the movie. Talk about a 'duh' moment.
Then you have a group of people who have survived five years...apparently by relying on technology, since posting actual gaurds seems beyond them. Wha? I'm sorry, something overheats and you're all dead. But they didn't bother with a single lookout. They don't even recognize when one of there own is infected. I mean, sweet zombie Jeebus, you gotta at least know that.
Then is the eternal flaw of Alice, being everywhere. Basically, Alice does everything bar die. Well, no, that's not true...a few Alice clones do peg it. But the ending? A few hundred Alice clones, being prepared, as Alice and Alice Clone 88 or whatever number she is watches. Yeah, you can see Anderson violently orgasming every time he thinks of that.
I'll spell it out...
T-H-E-Y A-R-E N-O-T T-H-E S-A-M-E.
Crimson Head
The super Zombies were regular zombies hopped up on serum
Crimson Heads are a natural evolution of a zombie that eventually forms a Licker.
A Crimson Head is formed when a zombie is immobilized and it begins to Rot and mutate.
Crimson Heads have about the same strength of a regular zombie. The are Faster and have claws, they can't rip metal bars off of cars.
I would have put a pic of the super zombies...
but every RE:E pic is all about Alice
True. I just used the closest term I had for them in comparison to the games. There are more similarities between them than between anything else, and so far the movie hasn't actually done anything origional in terms of monsters. I just figured 'close enough.'
to bad we couldnt see the evolution of a crimson head into a licker, I so want to see a full mutation of it happening you know what hella scared me in RE2 was the licker going across the window real quick then the blood dripping and then seeing the vid of the licker above you was so scary when I was younger...they should have incorperated this more into the movies.

In outbreak you see the link between Licker and crimson head.
The NPC's are really just there as zombie chow infact the films must've taken the AI of the Outbreak NPC's as their template for the non Alice characters. As for not finding things try it on Easy where everything is left in front of you anyway . . .
