I wanna know how these mods work how do you carry them out I know it involves replacing certain files and what not but I can't figure it out

Resident Evil 1.5 playable area in Resident Evil 2 - Trial Edition via SSSPSX game save, I put the files in the sstates folder like he said but how do you load the save when you can't load / save in the trial version?
Also I think someone made a Elza Walker mod for RE2 PC which will replace Claire but I can't find it
