What happened to STARS?

I just found this freeze frame from an RE5 trailer and if you look closely at the patch on his arm, Chris appears to now be a part of the BSAA.
What is that?

Probably a new organisation dedicated to dealing with bio-weapons. Probably run by the US goverment.

Of course, you could also type it into google and take your pick of the ones that pop up...

S.T.A.R.S was a police force. 3/4 of it's members were dead. The survivors left the city. The city was destroyed. They were also formally founded and funded by the very corporation they were trying to destroy. It's two main members also formed an Anti-Biohazard group.

With all that taken into consideration, doesn't really make sense for S.T.A.R.S to exist any longer. =P

STARS is more than likely, disbanded, due to the zombie invasion and the ending of the RPD. With the Raccoon City being wiped by the A-Bomb.

According to Capcom, S.T.A.R.S. was disbanded shortly after they returned from the Mansion Incident, sure Irons was more than willing to do it is as soon as possible.

Their replacement was the R.P.D. Select Police Force, supposedly an equivilent to a S.W.A.T team, carried submachine guns, etc.

I doubt they would've been able to keep S.T.A.R.S anyway. Again, only a handful of members left, and they were all pretty pissed off.

And I believe Chris was wearing a STARS vest in CV because he was cold, and had lots of pockets. STARS was disbanded before then. There would be no reason for it to exist, with no Raccoon City to protect.

He probably just didn't have anything else to wear. He was in hiding at the time of CV.

That and he would look pretty silly if he came wearing that biker jacket that makes him look like some rejected extra from an 80's film.

By who? Irons ran the "whole" department, you could say Umbrella 'told' him to do it, still it would be 'his' doing.

And their replacement(s) were one of the first units sent in to battle the zombie onslaught in the city, 2 months after S.T.A.R.S. disbandment.

Capcom hadn't 'written' the R.P.D. Select Police Force into the storyline as of yet when CV was made would be the probable reason.(?) ...possibly back at that time, in 99-2000, they might of planned to keep the unit still intact with the remaining members(?) ...remember that Jill says in RE3 that she's a 'member' of S.T.A.R.S., oddly enough, also in UC too, think they would've corrected that to go with the current status of the unit, according to their own chronology/archives.(with her line in UC that is)
