    When I looked in to getting a HDD for my ps2 some years ago, I found the HDAdvance and I thought it looked like what I was after. It does the job fine and I've been happy with it.
    I don't doubt what you're saying is true but at the time I didn't know about the alternatives. The one thing I would like it to do but it can't, is also allow you to store and play ps1 games on it.
    I think I read somewhere that you can also run emulators on the HDD but I'm not knowledgeable on such things...
    I not sure but have you tried modifying the SYSTEM.CNF file to the PS2 CD-ROM loader instead of the PSX one it might trick the PS2 into thinking it's a PS2 CD-ROM and load the .ELF, .EXE or SLES, SCUS file eg:

    Code:
    (PS2 System.cnf)
    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\Untitled., ELF, .EXE or SCUS_971.13;1
    VER = 1.00, 1.02 or 3.60 (European) = Version number of game or software can be changed to anything.
    VMODE = NTSC or PAL maybe SECAM as well I dunno.

    (PS1 System.cnf)
    BOOT = cdrom:Untitled., ELF, .EXE or SCUS_971.13;1
    TCB = 4
    EVENT = 10 or 16
    STACK = 801FFF00 or 0x801FFFF0
    I don't know what EVENT, STACK & TCB are used for though.

      If you buy HDAdvance you are literally supporting asshole plagiarist criminals.
      but if you actually own the game, then doesn't that legally give you the right to do so ?

        It's not a game it's a piece of software your putting money in the hands of people that just took HDLoader and the community patches here http://www.console-exploits.com/foru...ead.php?t=9610 and tried to pass it off as there own product by adding a different splash screen skin.

          It's simply not and will never be possible to play PSX games from a PS2 hard drive (regardless of what software -- HDAdvance, HDL, etc) because of the PS2 booting into PS2 mode when the HDD is accessed. Much easier to just get a PSX emulator for your PC.

          All the old system emulators for PS2 like Genesis and SNES don't play the games 100%, either, so they're not really worth it. The PS2 controller layout sucks for Genesis games, anyway.

          Any update on how the editing is going?

            I've just made a start on it, i'm going through each file format and what it contains starting with the .ADX files in BIO4DAT.AFS as it's the easiest once i'm finished hopefully biohazard2D will help me out and clean it up into a neat .PDF file hint, hint, wink, wink ;-) like he did with the re1 mod instructions.

                I just had thought you can run linux on the PS2 why can't you just use a linux emulator, I know they'd be slowdown but it'd work wouldn't it?
