anyone able to get RE2 running on XP fine ?

i've been meaning to ask this, is there any proper method of running RE2 on XP, some patch or something ? because normally it DOES run, but the gameplay goes really slow and i can't even get to save, the save file doesn't load afterwards.

Maybe use the compatibility mode.

Back when I was on the DL and XP came out, we worked it out and Dan Birlew turned it into a FAQ. This will explain it all.

sweet, i've finally got RE2 completely set for win XP ...

for the saves not working, an internet tip helped me, create a new Resident Evil 2 directory in the root of your C drive, then make that the save folder. Violah.

for the unusual slowdowns, another odd but helpful internet tip, start windows media player, keep it running, THEN start RE2 and the game will run at full speed.

The graphics look crap to me though it has vsync tearing and is stretched & pixelated , it looks miles better on my ancient computer for some reason, like it's running in 320x240 instead of 640x480. I end up just emulating the N64 version with the highest filtration settings.
