Back to the actual topic - RE games haven't gone downhill. I mean sure, the survivor games were craptastic, but CVX and 4 were great. It's only the side-games really that aren't very good.

People in Africa are Black. RE5 takes place in Africa. The enemies are black. ZOMG Racism.
Now you can do this with every single action game ever made.
Most people in America are white. RE1 Takes place in America. The enimies are white. ZOMG Racism.
Just because they are black they get a special exception from having their heads blown off while every whitie and Spaniard that comes along gets a free ticket to brain-splatter? That is racist.
And you cant even play the slavery card in this situation because they are native to Africa. Which means there is a low chance they had to put up with the crap of the 1700-1800s. Heck the zombies in RE1 were more likely to have slave ancestors than the enemies of 5.
You, yes YOU sir/madam are the hate monger.

STFU GTFO,.... resident evil is #1!!!!!!!!!!!
I like silent hill too, but I could always say how gay the controls are and how sluggish and bitch like the characters move while they get raped by the enemies and cant do shit about it...Silent hill is a good game, but I go so sick of the sluggish bullshit that I put down the controler and said fuck this, back to resident evil I go!

Now ppl this thread has just got ruined with this silly talk, lets decide if r.e 5 is bad news when it comes out. If chris goes around saying the N word or says something like "i always wanted to kill black people, always" then we can agree.
But let's get back to the topic here and talk about the series and if or not its passed its prime, and i'll say this one last time Resident evil 3 is the best ;)

How many times do you want to wander around Raccoon City? Or any other city full of zombies without making it too cliche? Capcom made a bold choice to risk one of their biggest franchises, and it paid off. If your past convictions colour your opinion of this game, then I really feel sorry for you.
Extending that parallel, I don't think that RE4 is better than most of the other RE games. However if you expect it to be like the rest, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
After all that's said, I'm sure there will be comments accusing me of heresy, especially in my thoughts on 1.5. Live with it.
As for BH4. I guess you'd feel sorry for me. If you are a fan of something, it doesn't get old to you. You're either the type of fan that loves to indulge in any and all amount of what you are a fan of, or you're the type who becomes a fan of something then will expect it to keep you interested eventually with high quality or your fandom becomes more of a general interest with acceptance.
The point itself was the main issue is exactly that BH took the turn drastically fast. After 4 main games, side stories, and remakes the game's story was not near a conclusion. After that many games, sure it seems reasonable a new direction is needed to keep things fresh. But not in the middle of a story that should have been played out way more efficiently. 4 games and side stories weren't enough for us, as players, to take down Umbrella and end the story arc in a fun and respectable way? The Umbrella Arc should have been played out (literally) in the 3rd or 4th game. Even BH4 with it's new direction gave -nothing- to the ongoing story except Wesker may or may not now have a sample of the las plagas. In fact, didn't Capcom even admit that BH4 was kinda a side story game?
What it makes me feel like is I'm in the middle of a huge mess of a story that went too slow then went too fast and after over 12-13 years of being involved, it's changed from the original BH game that had the formula I loved, to a gameplay that is fun but not the type I enjoyed from the originals and a story that goes out of it's way to go out of it's way and drastically changed from the secluded horror story that got me hooked.
What it all boils down to at the end of the day is when I close my eyes and think of Biohazard/Resident Evil, what always comes to mind is "Wow, what a mansion!".
It's just personal preference. You could say I've lost sight of what BH is and that I'm not a fan of the series as I should be and feel sorry for me, but I could say the same thing with just as good arguments about you. In the end, it doesn't matter. Enjoy the games you like and have fun. That's what I'm doing.sigpic
