    I found it funny

But that might only be because I think the whole thing is stupid.

People don't joke about "race", and i'll be damned if it starts happening around here.
But they weren't really jokes about "race" itself in a prejudice way, they were obviously jokes/sarcasm about the very fact of the stupidity of the racism claims and racism itself. Did you really think that guy was being serious that we should have segregated games? Or about having asian ninjas in a BH game? Honestly?

Yes, racism isn't a good thing and can be a very serious topic/issue, but like most everything else it's not always serious in its use/topic. And people shouldn't/don't have to tiptoe around the idea of it all the time. These guys in this topic were pretty obviously not serious (and if they were, well, shame on em) and not only that but they were in a manner that obviously was meant to reflect on the irrationality of racist views. I don't see anything really wrong with that. It's the same kind of joking/sarcastic manner most people act about with other things. Doesn't really mean anything serious. It's just a form of satire, I believe.

I agree that racism is not a good thing, that the people who are trying to claim BH5 is racist are being ridiculous, and that it is serious issue in general. But lighten up a bit Mark, you were being so serious that you didn't even see that these guys were -not- serious, which I find silly and ironic because their very remarks were pointing out the stupidity or outright silliness of the issue that you also believe is stupid.

By the way Mark, check your pm.

I'm sorry if I offended you, Mark, but I have no intention of taking this shit seriously. I have white friends, black friends, asian friends, indian friends, gay friends, straight friends and one transexual guy who is damned ugly. And pretty much everyone thinks this is a joke. The comments I made came from Mohammed, a black Muslim guy I play cards with.

Race is an important issue, it's true, and racism is the last bastion of the idiot in my opinion. It's a way to make yourself feel big and important at the expense of others and each and every person who is racist is, in essence, wrong. Doesn't automatically make them a bad person...I knew one friend who hated all asian people but was as polite as you could wish to them.

This, however, is a stupid issue. Race isn't the problem here. It's the ignorance of the people making these comments, and the fact that race is being dragged into is annoying in the extreme. So, yes, I'm going to make sarcastic comments because, honestly, if I tried to deal with this in a serious fashion it would just upset me. The fact that people are making such a fuss over a video game that, quite logically, has black people in it as enemies astounds me. Each and everyone of the articles I've seen have mention how they've done no research...and yet the feel justified in telling the world how evil this game is.

In other words they're willing to yell and scream but not take the time to make sure they are actually right. It's attention seeking, and the fact that it's using racial issues to make a bigger statement sickens and disgusts me.

I refuse to treat people saying RE5 is racist seriously because it simply does not deserve it. It is not a race issue. It's an issue about people's ignorance and stupidity and there desire for attention, and I refuse to give them that attention in a serious format.

Capcom have had this coming. They should have known that this would stir up some shit and I'm suprised they didn't ask the team to rework it before the public saw it.

And I'm pretty much sick of N'Gai these days. Listening to him on this weeks 1UP Yours has shown me that he is something of a "one trick pony". In other words, analogy between video games and movies, then a rhetorical question about video games.

I noted sarcasm in the other peoples replies.
I didn't consider their replies to be racist as comments about race etc appeared to be in jest.

Just as I consider this entire topic to be farcical considering this whole subject stems from a 2 + min trailer released by a Japanese developer who probably didn't consider racical ramifications of distributing the trailer in the west.

I don't think reaction to the game would have been as bad had they kept a lid on the footage, and just released the game as im sure the game is alot more then what was shown in the trailer.

This thread'll only lead to more bitching anyway, or an attack from the "PC brigade", its better off closed.

If someone were to lock the topic, I could only hope they would do it out of the wish to tell everyone "this discussion is stupid, go home".

BTW, why wasn't there any racist comments when everyone found out that you have to kill Marvin in BH2? Strange...

After reading everyone's responses to this thread, and everything that was replied in it, I fully agree this topic should be locked, never to be opened or tampered with again.

And I feel I must apologize (been doing that alot lately), but before I do so, I must explain to you all why I take racism so seriously. I live and grew up in West Virginia, USA. If that's not enough said, there are so many goddamned racist, close-minded people around here. It is truely disgusting.

Growing up, all my "black" friends were called the "N" bomb consistently. I have even physically fought people that use that word. "Gay" friends were no exception to uneducated hatred, nor where "asians", "latino/a(s)", etc. You name it - suspension from school, loss of friends, etc. - all of which I have experienced living in this State that is sooo "behind on the times". I know this will come off as being corny or whatever, but I will continue to fight for the rights of humans until the day that I die. Even if I must stress my point through an Internet forum that really has nothing to do with the issue, I will NEVER give up.

So when people start making a joke out of what I have fought for sooo long, i'm going to take it seriously. No ands ifs or buts about it. Again, you'll have to forgive my seriousness, but please, put yourself in my shoes. Imagine what it was like being subjected to hatred your entire life. Imagine what it was like to look into your friends' eyes, and seeing the hurt in them that was placed there by close-minded people trying to judge one another as if they are God. Also, try to imagine what it is like being transgendered, and at the same time, being subjected to the hatred you have physically fought since the dawn of your birth.

One would think that after all these years, I would just give up and stop paying attention. News flash - it's not going to happen. It's been suggested that I should join the Peace Corps, by several people. That ultimate decision hasn't been made, but nothing is going to change the passion I have for global unity. I'm a dreamer, I know. It will never happen in our lifetimes, but it sure as hell doesn't hurt for one to fight back against the close-minded people in this world that have absolutely nothing better to do other than sit back and judge everyone.

My point has been made, my apology about seriousness is out there for the people. But I simply will not apologize for how I feel.

With that said, for the love of God, please close this topic.
                        I'm a blackstar.

Trust me dude, i think I know a little about racial persecution.
I grew up in a mixed race family in a racist community consisting of african/white and islamic communities, one of the worst in the UK where people dispised me and my family cause we were different.

                          Anyway,
With all the apologies and whatnot out there now, can a mod or admin close the thread.

Yeah...there are alot of racism, homophobism, and other phobie's to people just because they think it's not right, I understand where Mark's coming from.
And growing up in a racist/homophobic family is no help. >.>

Oh well, as long as we're all agreeing the topic is stupid, we shouldn't judge by a game that "so and so" is racist clearly for a setting, it's like making a goose fight a bunch of aligators in so and so country, no-one would complain about that so why this?

Before it's locked, I just thought everyone might be interested to see what Christian Svennson had to say about it. I decided I'd ask about any possible ramifications of this "controversy" on the game's development and eventual release.
