yeah but how did the end up all the way in the police station so quickly, you have to fight them as HUNK, surely they should have been there with Leon to if this is the case

Here's a logical (sort of) explanation of how Hunk arrived at the Sewers. I made this a good 3 years ago, back in, from what I can tell May of 2005 (but that was just the date I added it to my dbase):

After Birkin was gunned down (regardless of whether it was accidental or otherwise), Hunk and his team make off with the case Birkin has his virus vials in. As we all know, the G-Virus was Birkin's life work and he wasn't going to just let go of it without a fight. He did the only thing he could to both save his life and ensure his work is protected. He infected himself with the sample of the virus he conveniently still had in hand (where he got the syringe is still a mystery).

Due to the massive trauma Birkin's body had suffered, this caused the virus to go beserk trying to repair all the damage done by the MP5 bullets.... Since he directly injected the virus into his heart, it spread throughout his body within mere minutes (the average blood cell makes a round trip through the body's arteries and veins every 60 seconds). Like the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, after exposure to the agent, the once mild mannered doctor transforms into an angry monster. Birkin wants revenge.

Birkin wants revenge and his samples back so he goes after them. Since he knows his facility better than they do, he catches up to them before they get too far away. He tracks them to the sewer and commences his attack. Birkin knocks Hunk unconscious while trying to protect the samples. Unlike his comrades, he was the only survivor. He was lucky and only was knocked out, probably suffering a mild concussion...

A few hours later, when Hunk regained consciousness, he must have had amnesia from the concussion or something because he probably ended up wandering around the sewers for a few days, most likely surviving on his emergency rations. When he finally regained his memories of who he was and what his mission was, he figured that about a week has passed...

Since he knew his mission, he went back to the underground lab and started to look for signs of another G-Virus sample. Since the one he acquired was destroyed along with all the rest of the samples, Hunk heard Annette, Dr Birkin's wife, talking to some woman about there being a G-Virus sample in her daughters pendant. Once he heard that, he knew that was where he could get a sample from. However, he didn't know where she was or what she looked like.

So, he hung around the shadows of the underground complex a bit more, staying out of sight, just so he would not blow his cover. So as he was waiting for Sherry, since he knew that she was exploring the sewer/lab area with some unknown woman (as was explained to Annette). Just then, a loud and violent rumble startled him. The complexes self-destruct sequence had been activated!

Hunk didn't have much time left to idle around any longer. While being tapped into the security system's monitor's he saw a man in a Raccoon Police Department uniform grab a vial from some woman in a red dress and then throw it over the side of the railing.

Since he was running out of time, he decided to go for it. If it was nothing, his mission was a failure and he would have to go back with the few only remaining documents that concerned the G-Virus--but, if in fact it was the G-Virus, then he would be facing a huge bonus when it came time for him to deliver... So when he got to the bottom platform he found the vial and it was still intact thanks to the shatter resistant glass the vials have in case of accidental dropping...

Hunk sealed it in an airtight container and placed it in another titanium container so as to not compromise himself by getting infected. Now he had less than 5 minutes to leave the complex or be blown up with it. Hunk headed back the only way he knew how--through the sewers...

He did not escape the blast.

Or at least was not completely engulfed by the blast. The resulting blast from the underground laboratory was designed to vaporize any biological form of matter, however, Hunk was well out of burning zone, but was still inside of the blast zone, so his body was tossed around like a rag doll down the sewers. Hunk suffered a few broken ribs and maybe a few fractures, but his suit was designed to take a beating so overall he was fine.

Even though he was in commendable health, it became hard for him to breathe with his ribs broken, and since the blast burned a lot of the available oxygen in the air, he passed out from the lack of oxygen far into the sewer system. A few hours later, when he came too, he noticed he ended up underneath the Raccoon City Police Station's sewer system entrance.

Things were finally going his way since he was really close to a rendezvous point; Hunk called for his rendezvous party and was off to the helicopter pad on top of the Raccoon Police Department's 2nd floor. As simple as this all sounds, Hunk was not alone in the Raccoon police department. It was infested with vicious undead bio-organic weapons that were created by the recklessness of Dr Birkin's actions in the sewers a week prior...

So, to escape, he would have fight his way through the infested building and then light a signal flare which would then call in his rendezvous pick up party. Room by room, he fought, dodged, and pushed his way through, just to complete his mission. It wasn't easy but Hunk made it...
It made sense back then, and I think it still has some relevance now since it is somewhat possible...

yeah it still kind of makes sense,
it makes more sense for him to be unconcious in the sewer system for a few days or even a week.

You have many good ideas...but even then...a few plot holes. We know that the sewers still had zombies and monsters running around inside them. If Hunk was knocked out for any great length of time, he would have been eaten. Zombies didn't hesitate to feast on the dead, which was shown at several points during the game.

The unti that first entered the lab (probably, I can't remember the exact details at the moment) took more than just one sample. I doubt Hunk would have needed to go back to the labs. He wouldn't have had enough ammo and supplies to constantly be running back and forth.

Like I said though...I really liked reading your theory. It was very creative and insightful! When I hear people say that Hunk's mission doesn't fit anywhere in the timeline, I don't really understand where they are getting at. Take the main game: you have four living people running around the police station: Claire, Leon, Sherry, and Ada. Only at certain points do their paths cross, and yet when both of the main characters go into most of the same areas many times.

When it all comes down to it...its just the way the game works out. You can't have everything fitting perfectly at the same time.

There were places HUNK could have hidden in the sewers, the various store rooms etc. HUNK is good merc and would have planned his route so he would have had maps etc meaning he knew his way around the sewer system before he even got there

The timeline for Hunk is very confusing. The only thing for sure is he entered the sewers with his team before the outbreak. In fact him taking the samples and them being leaked in the sewers caused the outbreak. What we don't know is how long he was knocked out for in the sewers. Most believed, including myself, is that he escaped the sewers and raccoon city before Clarie and Leon arrived. The problem is the RE UC says he left the city on September 30 the day that they escaped but UC is not really a good canon.

I don't think their actions caused the outbreak. G was a mutative virus and would have created more monsters like Birkin had that been the virus that was leaked. In the case Hunk and his team had, both T and G samples were inside. If you watch the scene from RE2, you see Birkin stepping on the green vial. Green for T, purple for G. Remember that the "murders" in the mountains were done by zombies and dogs infected with T. What happened with those bodies? They were taken to the hospital, morgue, funeral homes, etc. And if you remember from re3, one of the plants was being used to store dead bodies. I cant remember the exact details on that since its been ages since I've played 3.

Also... If he was knocked out for too long, he may have drowned. They were in the sewers after all, and the water was up in some points.

Annette tells Ada that the stolen Virus samples that were stolen and destroyed were carried by rats and spread threw raccoon city. Wesker also says the same thing in his Wesker's report.

True...but its also mentioned in the reports on G that it caused unstable mutations.

Again...even though UC isn't exactly following the storyline to a perfect point, Ada also says "What would happen if the G virus got out?" after talking with Wesker. T was what infected Raccoon. Find the youtube vid...you can see Birkin stepping on the green viral samples containing T.

Both the G-Virus and T-Virus were shattered. Some folk believe that Birkin absorbed all the G-Virus sample. Me? I reckon the city is a result of both, hence the rapid time frame from outbreak to the zombies overunning the city and the more unusual mutations, such as Lickers. The reason Birkin mutates so much more than others is because he recieved a whole vile of the stuff compared to the tiny ammount anything else would have recieved. After all, you can't exactly say Lickers are stable...if you include Outbreak we see three different versions.

But that's my personal theory, and a lot of folk disagree with me.

It's a good theory Darkmoon. I wish we actually got to see someone mutating into a licker. That would be interesting.

Of course in the end...Hunk is chalked up to be another one of those plot holes Capcom never seems to be able to sort out.
