Well in RE2 video we see that after turning into monster and killing the soldiers Birkin actually put G virus samples into his mouth and eated them after that he mutated even more. So it is resonable to say that he licked G-virus from the flour. Anyway it os known that rats spread T-virus but not G-virus, but who knows

As it appearse that lickers are not the next mutation of a crimson heads. As it is said in biohazard Archives lickers are mutated zombies, when zombies lives long enough he began to mutate into licker (remember so called powered zombies in the end of RE2). The mutation to crimson heads happens when zombie was seriously enjured but not behaded or fired.

Interestingly you don't actually see Birkin eat the virus. You see him raise a vial up and broken shards or glass dropping but it shows his chest, not his mouth, so it's not certain how much he ate...and how much was clinging to the broken bits of tube. Add to that Birkin's apparent aim of speedily killing Hunk's team and the fact he's already lost much of his humanity and I don't see him spending time licking up the virus. Combined with the number of vials shown in the case and it's quite likely, at least to my mind, that at least some of the G-virus hit the ground to be eaten by rats.

Crimson heads may, indeed, be a stage towards Lickers...but since the two have yet to appear in the same game together I'm a little doubtful myself. There are, however, three known Licker forms, suggesting it's unusually unstable in terms of it's mutations, which is one of the G-Virus traits.

As I said, this is just my personal opinion, and how I explain that while it took in the region of three months to infect the Mansion Raccoon City was gone in two weeks.

I remember hearing that Lickers are the next mutation of a crimson head but unless they remake Re 2 or I can find out where I heard that from then who knows.

It's hard to really trust the Umbrella Archives...on one page it lists Rebecca as dead. And the original RE had no crimson heads, so saying lickers are a later form of that raises a few eyebrows as well.

Theories are always great to read though. You all have some wonderfully interesting things to say as well. Some are ideas I have never heard before but make perfect sense.

I just rewatched Wesker's report, and it said the T-virus spread by rats helped caused the outbreak in Raccoon.

Also...where is it mentioned that lickers are an evolution of crimson heads?

I believe one of the unoffical companions mentions it, but it's a common theory, and easy to see. Crimson Heads do resemeble Lickers somewhat. I don't think it's so though.

And, yeah, the majority of the Raccoon City outbreak is T-Virus. I just wondered why it took so little time compared to the Mansion outbreak and so came up with the G-Virus idea.
