The thing is any cop has to go through lockpick training. She was supposed to be in Delta Force or whatever before joining STARS. Pretty sure she would have had lockpick training for that too.

It says that Ada's nationality is unknown so it is possible that she is not Asian and that Ada Wong is not her real name. But when it come to capcom that keep changing things on the fly and don't seem to have any long term plans that we know of.

Ada is a woman of Asian descent, sporting a sleek figure and graceful mannerisms. Her official profile in Resident Evil 2 as well as her very name state that she is specifically of Chinese descent, although judging by Ada's shadowy background this may or may not be true. Her overall dress motif however, helps to support this. However, her physical appearance might also suggest a multi-racial Eurasian descent.
Ada sports a lot of possible symbolism in her overall motif, as well as a connection to Leon. The most prolific is the previously mentioned butterfly motif. Generally, Butterflies are seen as a sign of rebirth or freedom which would suit Ada's story perfectly, as she had narrowly escaped death and presumably had been "reborn" emotionally in her Resident Evil 3 epilogue file. Interestingly however, Butterflies in Japanese mythos are said to lead to interesting things when they are followed, which would go with Leon's tendency to follow Ada and may presumably lead to the truth of all things.

Ada's signature colour, red, also has some obvious as well as subtle symbolism. Red is associated with passion, love, and determination as well in all their various forms. Red is also a very prominent colour in Chinese wardrobe, which would fit with Ada's ethnicity which tends to be prominently figured in her overall dress style. Perhaps the most interesting fact about her colour is that Leon's trademark colour is arguably blue, as his RPD uniform is dark blue and his RE4 outfit is predominantly shades of black, grey and blue. Blue and red are often considered rival colours of each other, but also highly compatible as evidenced by the fact that in Chinese weddings the bride and groom are often dressed in red and blue respectively.

What makes you say that? Barry simply said she's the master of it, doesn't mean she's the only one who can do it. Chris doesn't have a tool to do it and neither does Leon. Everyone else with possible training or knowledge are usually dead, so who knows what they could have been capable of. Not to mention it is only simple locks that are picked, with the exception of the Sword Key doors in BH1 (I can't remember if any of the chess locks in BH2 can be picked by Claire). All other locks still must have their normal keys used. I don't really think her lock-picking is that special of a trait, as others said it's probably something she's picked up on as a cop and being a member of Delta Force. Claire can also pick locks with the lock-pick. Was her father a master burglar too and trained her? haha. But no, seriously, it's just a made-up explanation for the novels. I wouldn't put any more thought into it without any canonical evidence in an official game or Capcom information.

Well don't. People are capable of looking for it on their own. You're going through old threads, double posting in some cases (like this one), and in some cases have nothing more to say that "yea". Bumping threads without real reason other than increasing your post count is a waste of time for people actually looking for new information.
