You suspect there is a Claire Beta 2 disk? Interesting theory, but wouldn't Capcom work on Leon first until that's perfect, then copy files over to Claires?

Remember that 1.5 only had one disc. Also, why would you list Claire's scenarios (albeit grayed out) on Beta 2, if it had another disc somewhere? Is there any Claire data in Beta 2?Comment

I can think of two possible reasons why the leaked Beta 2 copy didn't have Claire's scenarios in it.
1. It really was a review copy and Capcom intentionally removed Claire's scenarios to limit what the reviewers can sample.
2. The developers had come at a point where they were readying to split the game into 2 disks. Beta 2 was a late-in-development build after all.
Anyway, I don't really think it matters whether her scenarios were on a separate disk or not. What matters is that there is a beta 2 of Claire's scenarios somewhere out there.
That's probably because 1.5 had a lot less FMVs than 2.Remember that 1.5 only had one disc.
Beta 2 was developed from earlier builds which contained all four scenarios. The devs could have been just lazy and decided to make them unselectable instead of completely removing them from the selection. They leave fully-working debug menus in some games, who's to say they wouldn't remove a simple selection?Also, why would you list Claire's scenarios (albeit grayed out) on Beta 2, if it had another disc somewhere?

Um, wouldn't it be easier to delete the option altogether? You'd have to code the grey color, and the inability to select it.Comment

If they're working from a previous build that had both enabled, it'd be easier to just change a value in the source code which disables it and then delete the Claire specific files so as to not waste space. Atleast that's how I would have done it...Comment

Apparently it really isn't that easy to delete that data and not screw things up. Hence why there are demo's that still have 1.5 data on them and such. This is just a guess but I imagine it's a little difficult to be sure how deleting such data will affect the game you're keeping and so the data would only be removed when you absoloutely had to.
Plus, of course, it gives reviewers physical evidence that they're going to get to play Claire in the retail rather than just information from the notes. Sure, it's not really any more certain but it seems like it's more real if the option is there, albeit blacked out.Comment
