  • RE3: Nemesis Starting Weapons

Okay. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I have never before played Resident Evil 3. I have played every single other mainstream RE game, but not 3. However, earlier today I walked into my favorite game store and there it was, PS1 version, sitting on the shelf for 12.99. I bought it immediately, of course.

So I started up the game, intro scene, blah blah blah. Gameplay. However, something was odd. Jill was wielding an Assault Rifle and had two spare clips for it. Not only that, at the first item box I got to I looked inside to find a magnum, a shotgun, a whole ton of ink ribbons, plus ample ammo for everything. In every other RE game you start out with a handgun or less.

Did the previous owner of this game go batshit insane with an Action Replay or is that really how it's supposed to be?

magnum and shotgun?? hmm, yes you get a M16 in the beginning on easy, but never on hard, I dont know how you got all of those items early.

Yeah, I was playing on easy.

Well that's a relief, I would never forgive Capcom if they loaded you up with an arsenal like that right away. And I just noticed that the ink ribbon I found in the box has an infinite sign next to it. Is that Capcoms doing, or the anonymous hacker?

Hacker, aside from starting with Magnums, Shotguns, Assualt Rifles, ect.

You'll be damn glad you have those when Nemesis is charging after your ass.

Oh, I never said I wasn't happy about my arsenal.
I just said that I hoped it wasn't Capcoms doing.

I am pretty sure it's either the mode where you start off with an Assault Rifle and other weapons in your item box, or Hard Mode. Hard Mode also rewards you for taking down Nemesis with assorted gun slides etc. to upgrade your pistol and other weapons.

Definitely worth playing on Hard, made it a lot more fun AND tense for me. =)

PS1 CDs can't be permanently modified since they're not rewritable. Anyway, that's just how Easy mode on this game is. Hard mode is considered the Normal mode.

I had all these weapons when i played it on easy. I used to own the game but recently bought it again after my original copy was stolen, but i had the same stuff in the trunk to begin with

Easy mode starts you off with a shitload of weapons, plus infinite ink ribbons. However, Nemesis won't drop special items when you knock him out, and you don't get a ranking screen at the end of the game. Hard mode starts you off with a Beretta, instruction books, a Reloading Tool, and a knife (if I remember correctly).

Like BioHazard Star said, Hard mode is considered the normal mode.

Yeah that's normal that you start with all that stuff. Play on Hard mode, it's not that difficult, just run from nemesis, alot...

I think I am going to switch over to hard. I tore through like 9 or so zombies with the Assault Rifle and was thinking "That can't be right.". Hard Mode it is!

Its better to play it on Hard mode cause you will be it on easy mode fairly quick. The only part that is tough is when u you fight the Nemesis on the trolley car.
