I think there's one on a couple of CD's and one on a DVD, but I'm not sure if there are any major differences in how they work.

There were two (maybe more) versions released for CD-ROM, Resident Evil 2 and then Resident Evil 2 "Platinum". The DVD version is referred to as the "Source Next" version since that's who's responsible for the re-release.

You'll be needing the RE2 Platinum edition for this mod.

It's a retail game, I'm afraid that's a no go around here.

Though, you can download it via torrent.
