  • Dead Aim : SYSTEM.CNF Differences

Here's my copy of Dead Aim's SYSTEM.CNF file taken with a hex editor :
    Code:
    424F4F5432203D206364726F6D303A5C BOOT2 = cdrom0:\
    534C55535F3230362E36393B310D0A56 SLUS_206.69;1..V
    4552203D20312E30310D0A564D4F4445 ER = 1.01..VMODE
    203D204E5453430D0A                   = NTSC..
I want to know if anyone's CNF file has "VER = 1.00" or "VER = 1.02" or greater. And if so, could you create a screen shot like this as well as create an MD5 checksum of the files?

    Code:
     FILE NAME | MD5 CHECKSUM
    --------------+---------------------------------
    IMAGE.BIN | D6F29D6DED79B579DE4127940A605227
    MOVIE0UC.BIN | 3C5063F960147BFC0A114E8901DCEE55
    MOVIE1UC.BIN | 73393B3F743C57E00369EB301CE7D247
    SLUS_206.69 | B2EBF7B81C4919CC58F5B2C6E362567D
    SNDIMAGE.BIN | A3C2E262F2DC604D0BBA8D08D82C832C
    SYSTEM.CNF | A548A7846EF3F49B86E1310CE880F421

Just curious as to what differences (if any) there are across the files.

Pointless to mention, but I have the same version (1.01)...

If you want to extract the files from the BIN archives, use this tool:

If you want to listen to the BGM from "SNDIMAGE", you must do the following:

Extract the files using the tool above.
"Fix" the extract files with extension FIL using this tool.
Rename each "FIL" file extension to "FILp" (someone messed up my original extension support for in_cube/VGMStream - it should be FIL, but instead they made it to only recognize FILp extension)
Have WinAmp installed on your PC.
        Install the WinAmp plugin VGMStream
Add the FILp files to the WinAmp playlist, and enjoy.
        I'm a blackstar.

1.01 here as well. I didn't pick this up when it first released though.

Thanks Mark. At the moment, I've been using /dev/ghostline's FPKx extractor (well the source was provided; I had to compile it under cygwin using gcc since I don't run anymore distros of Linux anymore since my last PC died, it was fun learning how to use cygwin as it reminds me more of Unix than any Linux distro I've used) for the past week looking for anything interesting, but every BIN file just creates more FPK compressed files... It would seem rather processor intensive to be constantly unarchiving data like that to access textures and what not...

I doubt any SLES, SCUS code would have a different version number don't they have to re-rate it and give it a new SLES, SCUS with each new revision? this is how I found out which versions of San Andreas are uncut.

Thats a major difference. There are plenty of different version of games that keep the rating because no content was changed. GTA:SA had hot coffee, so its a different beast entirely.

Yes I know but doesn't every code revision / release have to re-rated even if the nature of the game hasn't changed and then given a new scus / sles code.
