Look, I really don't care that much anymore. Whatever. I thought Apocalypse was the better of the three movies with cool special effects, then came Extinction (which only lost to Apocalypse because of the thousands of Alice clones which seemed a bit stupid), then came the first one, which had slightly too bad acting.

And Stu, don't be a bitch. You've been like that ever since I started posting on this forum, and I'm getting sick and tired of it. I know people have opinions, and I assumed that many people just hated the movies because they didn't follow the games closely enough. Opinions, it seems, will stay opinions.

There it is, my friend. You've set the bar VERY, VERY low.

You're comparing a film done by Uwe Boll with films done by Paul W. S. Anderson.

It's like the tagline for Aliens -vs- Predator: "Whoever wins...We lose."

Uwe fucking Boll should be dropped into a tub of flesh-eating acid for destroying The House of the Dead franchise. The games kick ridiculous amounts of ass considering their just light-gun games, but Boil had to ruin them.

As for the RE movies: Quite enjoyed the first one, the others sucked. I liked how Apocalypse started off with the black vans zooming about Raccoon City, but after that it went to shit.

Nemesis was such a push-over/joke in this movie. Can't even crush a woman three times smaller than himself or survive a chopper wreck. [Hey, the game version would have].

The game version Nemesis survived bath in some acid-like substance (or whatever there was in that disposal room) and a shot from the Paracelsus' Sword. ;)
But the worst thing with Apocalypse's Nemesis was not that he was a pussy, not that he didn't kill LJ (Nemmy from the game was a sadist, here "no threat" = "no kill"), but that he turned into a good ol' Matt in end and started to remember his relationship with Alice... ugh, way to ruin a monster :/

              Way to over-react.

Don't go making claims that people don't like the films because they're not faithful to the games and NOT expect people to think differently.

Think about it, the games weren't critically panned by thousands of reviewers over the world because they were faithful to a little video games series, they panned them because they're just bad films, and don't stand up on their own two feet as films in their own right.

IMDB gave all of them over a 6, and that's the world's largest public voting site. They can't be too bad.

And the reason I think that people hate them because they're unfaithful to the games is because we're on a RE fansite here.

But no one ever says, 'Well, they were great movies, they just weren't good as RE,' such as you hear when we talk about RE4, a good game that failed to capture what made Resident Evil a series we've been following. Instead we says things like, 'If I'd known how bad Apocolypse was and I'd been given a spoon before the movie, well, I'd be needing that special equipment to let blind folk surf the net now.' Which, really, just suggests we hate the damned things because they have no redeaming features.

                  At all.

                  Anywhere.

At least, not for us. But you're only the second fan I can recall who likes them, the other being Biohazard Blade (who loved them because it was RE, on a movie screen. RE ON A MOVIE SCREEN!? How can that not be awesome!) and there must be a fair few people who, somehow, did enjoy the movies because they made a crapload of cash. And it can't all be people going along to see it, saying, 'Surely this time it won't make me wanna kill, will it?'

                    You. I like. XD

But eh. C'mon they were true horror movies!

                    Excuse me.... I typo'd.

TruLY HorIBLE movies. There we go.

They just suck. I really don't know what else to say. I mean I too knew a group of people, from YT no doubt, who loved the movies. But, lollerskates, they never even played the games. None of them. Except maybe; who'd a guessed it? RE4. I guess shit sticks together. But yeah. So whoever's saying that people who hate the movies aren't true RE (game) fans...

I lol at you. I lol right in your silly face.

I don't think anyone's ever said that. Mostly because of the crapstorm that happens whenever anyone so much as mentions the movies and people throw in there two cents. Sadly those two cents were collected and used to hire an assassin whose plans to infect Anderson with the T-Virus. The debate still rages whether this will have a noticible effect on his movies, personality or interlect.

What if they were to start over with the RE movies and have it directed by say Shinji Mikami or George Romero (name drops), do you guys think that would save the movie series? Made movies that were a part of the Resident Evil universe as we know it...

I think if they went back to horror, it could work.

It'd be awesome if they did a franchise reboot, and tried to incorporate pieces of the game universe...but it'd have to be done well, to really please the fans, and be worthy of it's place in RE canon.

But I don't think that is in the cards...the world that Anderson envisioned does make money. I think "Extinction" made a lot of money, and the RE films are especially popular overseas. I don't know how or why, but maybe Alice appeals to certain people?

I watched the first RE on DVD, saw the second one on cable, and wouldn't watch the third one even if someone paid me $20. Those movies are complete rubbish, and it boggles my mind how anyone can find any redeeming qualities in them. They're not scary, they're not well-made, they're not interesting, and the characters are not appealing.

But, I can see the same casual gaming crowd that loves RE4 being fans of the RE live-action franchise. I mean, super-strength-mental-power-ninja-woman Alice is basically RE4 Leon and RE4 Ada rolled into one.

Gah! It's vomit-inducing at the sheer level of SUCK in those films!

Honestly, if they were half way decent horror movies a lot of sins could be forgiven. But like the games themselves horror has been sacraficed for action and the occasional panty shot, and Alice's character is so badly over developed now that she has the Superman Problem. How do you give her a challenge when she is, in essence, the most powerful B.O.W ever created? Faster, stronger, tougher, with telekintik and other powers and, more than likely, a few powers we don't even know yet.

How shocked would you be if she was 'killed' in the next movie, if they make it, only to rise back up after regenerating herself as the evil ones advanced on someone she cared about?

A series reset would be nice. But, honestly, a lot of the fault for the movies sucking lies in Alice, I feel. She's too powerful and the movies are far too heavily focused on her.
