  • Resident Evil Online

I've been collecting RE trailers to make a compilation dvd and while sorting through some old promo disks, I came across this one. I had completely forgotten that I owned it and watching it again I noticed some THINGS!
This is some of the earliest footage of RE-Outbreak but it's just called Resident Evil Online.

    RE-Online Trailer: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ycnz9tdibbz
    (3.40mins, 53mb)

I've completed all the scenarios on both Outbreak games a few times but there's some scenes shown here that I don't recall, including what looks to be an in game battle with William G-2! Other things: 'A Day in Raccoon' building, the hospital entrance from RE3, area with gate and dogs, the street scene with scissor worms, the hole in the roof and the area near the end of the trailer showing Kevin crawling on the ground. I may have just forgotten a few of these as it's been a while since I played it but I'm quite certain that some of these scenes were dropped and never released.
I welcome any Outbreak fanatics to correct me or maybe spot other things.
It's got me thinking just WHAT ELSE was created but never made it into either game?

Just for fun, here's the US release trailer: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zwnnxjsxxg2
    (3.06mins, 45mb)
No 'lost levels' here but it's a pretty cool trailer and worth downloading.

You can dig out some of the beta stuffs like the character sketches in the game itself.

You can also refer to the thread on bioflames here

It show some areas for the locations that can't be found in the game.

Weren't there originally twenty scenarios or something? Makes you wonder why they scrapped them.

I absolutely loved the Outbreak series. The controls were refined and felt just right without abandoning the old school formula, and the way it all worked was just brilliant. I would kill for another type of game, similar to Outbreak =(

The area in which Kevin is crawling is used in the 'cold comfort' alternate ending to Underbely in Outbreak file #2.

William looks really... awkward in the trailer/your pics. I can't tell if he's in G-1 or G-2 form. His face looks kinda human but he's gone bald...

Also, when that metal/rock music starts playing in the trailer I always crank the volume up.

There were 20 scenerios, yes. That was before Resident Evil Online became Outbreak File #1. Capcom, being the fucktards they are, invoked the usual 'quality control' bullshit and decided to dramatically, almost entirely, downscale Resident Evil Online out of existence. The game was originally the scale of an MMO in sheer size but due to the downscaling more than 75% of the scenerios were scrapped and those that weren't were shortened and made significantly smaller. In concept and theory, Resident Evil Online was the best idea of the Biohazard serious and was the natural evolution and progression of the franchise. Unfortunately, Capcom did not see the light and withdrew and destroyed that original concept. One can only hope that one day there will be a Outbreak File #3. But as of now, Capcom has stated that they have no interest in a File 3 or a Biohazard Online, saying the co-op in Biohazard 5, linear as it is, should be sufficient multiplayer to replace Outbreak File 3 and be the MULTIPLAYER of the whole franchise. Sad, really. Capcom is a distraught and misled bunch. This is an excellent thread, thank you for bringing it into existence.

Basically, Capcom are a moronic set of individuals. They really butchered the RE serie's.

If it's any condolence to anyone who still cares, Capcom did say that the multiplayer component of Biohazard 5 (being insanely linear) will be a test and they will assess the responses to it. If the responses are positive, that will be the multiplayer of the Biohazard franchise and Outbreak will be done away with entirely, If it is not well recieved, Capcom will consider an Outbreak File 3 or some other alternative multiplayer component to the Biohazard franchise.

We should no matter what, hate RE5 online right? I'd rather see REOB3 than a we-already-know crap multiplayer for RE5.

Crapcom is stupid if they think people want RE5 to be mutliplayer. The main games of the series have always been single player and should stay that way. Outbreak File 3 would be great on the any of the new consoles but they don't seem to want to listen to the fans.

According to Capcom, they are trying out new things. Capcom repeatedly (and almost proudly, as if they like to constantly repeat, implying that they do not like the Outbreak series) points out that the Outbreak series did not sell well, they say they interpreted this as the fans way of saying 'No, we don't want the Outbreak series, stop making them.' Capcom consistently points that out and has more than once implied they disfavor their own Outbreak series. Yet the cry for an Outbreak File 3 is similar to the cry for a MegaMan Legends 3, the idea of an Outbreak File 3 is constantly brought up daily in new threads on the Capcom Unity BBS (forums). Capcom usually swoops in and shuts those threads down and locks them, unfortunately. They even created a sticky in the 'Ask Capcom' section saying not to talk about or ask about a Outbreak File 3. Ultimately, our best bet is to let Capcom know that although Biohazard 5 is an acceptable singleplayer experience, it is not in any way, shape or form a replacement for Biohazard multiplayer. It remains to be seen what will happen in the near future. Although I have constantly contested the Wii and stated I do not like the Wii, I'm wondering, what do you think the future of the Biohazard series is on the Wii? What do you guys think they will do. Capcom has stated they consider the Biohazard tests on the Wii (Biohazard 4 Wii, Umbrella Chronicles, etc.) to be a success and have said that if it is a success (which they say it was) they would bring more Biohazard titles to the Wii. Now the obvious choices are the following -- A) They continue remaking Biohazard games as they did on the Gamecube and remake Biohazard 2, 3, etc. for the Wii or B) They make Outbreak File 3 for the Wii or some other online title or C) They make a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles and continue with that franchise on the Wii or D) They make Biohazard 5 and other main titles for the Wii. What do you all think? It's a mystery to me. They are such a confused bunch and often contradict themselves.

                          Fuck Capcom.

I think it's quite obvious they just don't care about the "original breed" of fans and are just money-hungry asshats.

I'm with you, Twist. I know how you feel. Since you seem to be a fan of the traditional Biohazard formula, you may be interested in a mod called Dark Biohazard. You should get involved with that and pushing for a release. It's a mod, an alternative to Capcom's Biohazard 2. It looks really good - www.darkbiohazard.com

Even better than Dark Biohazard, you may want to look forward to the Shinji Mikami directed game at PlatinumGames, the new JP studio he, Masami Ueda, and many others of Biohazard fame work for. It's very likely that his PlatinumGames title is a horror title and will be the 'spiritual successor' to the Biohazard series. Also worth noting, he's working with Suda51 on Suda's horror title which Suda is directing and Mikami is producing. These might be worth looking forward to. And hell, we always have Silent Hill. I'm praying Homecoming is a good game, the only reason I doubted it was because Team Silent didn't make it.
