  • Little things you think others should know...

I started this topic to be helpful to others. If you know a subtle fact that could affect a person's performance in a RE game, state it here. I got a few myself:

    1. Pausing the game in RE2 does not stop the timer, so you keep it paused for 3 hours, then your final time will have that 3 hours, and it probably will affect your rating.

    2. In RE Deadly Silence knifing minigames, swipe the knife in a series of swipes to get a combo and speed up your knifing speed. Eg: left, right, down. Make sure though that you don't use the same combo twice in a row as it won't work the second time around.

    3. Nemesis is left handed; run around him to the right (I think) and he won't get you.

Nemesis FIRST Form is right handed. The second Form (with the Tentacles) is right handed.

If you fight Nemesis instead of running from him, he drops useful items every time you 'defeat' him in an encounter.

lickers react to sound, do not move when they're on their hind legs

If you push constantly the movement buttons to make your way in an encounter with a licker -without making a full step-, you will not make any sound... so the licker doesn't know where you are and they won't attack you. Though, is an slow tactic.

            - After you trigger the zombie encounter in the art room in REmake, if you keep backing into where you got the dagger, the zombie can't get you.

            - In the beginning of Separate ways, you can't take any exit that's not the church, but if you try, and you run back, you'll see Ganado's chasing Leon (before they divert their attention to you)

            - In RE Outbreak 2's Underbelly scenario, you can "trap" any small fleas if you drop a blood pack where the train would crash later in the scenario. The blood would still be there but the fleas cannot reach it due to the crashed train and therefore would be stuck in the looping animation (best do this immediately after you see the train approaching cutscene)

            - Chris *can* die if you take too long to get the serum as Rebecca. I rarely seen anyone point this out though (a while ago someone tried making a compilation of all the RE cutscenes and I remember him missing that one... Hell it's not even in the game scripts on gamefaqs)

If you find and read all the files in RE3: Nemesis in the correct order, then one of the instruction manuals will turn into jill's diary.

This is going great guys! Keep it up!

Something I learned from the podcast, but not necessarily helpful:

Pretty much every country except the capital of non-violence Germany got shafted with the B&W intro from RE1. Very dumb.

Tyrant and hunters are lefthanded either, use it to avoid their atacks

It's been years, but with lickers, I'd trigger their tongue lash then run by them while they're in their lashing animation.

To get a lower time in Remake, let your sub character die and don't save either Chris or Jill in the jail. If your sub character dies, you don't have to fight the Tyrant a second time.

There are no Blue Herbs in Resident Evil 2's Laboratory, so keep your look out on Poisonous Ivies

Also Lickers hardly twitch back if you shoot em with the gatling gun.

Correction, Scott, there is Blue Herbs. They're inside the room with the plant growing in the ventilation hole.

Also, to get the infinite Rocket Launcher in RE1, just finish the game without saving, as quick as possible.

To get the Special Key, just save both partners. I don't think there's any time restrictions.

To get both, finish the game without saving and escape with both partners.

Oh sorry, i didn't find any and had to finish the game with the poison status. I played the B scenario. I was in that room and didn't find any... I guess there are some in A and none in B, but well it's just a minor thing cause if you don't activate the B.O.W.- gas then the ivies aren't poisonous anyway.

Also I need to correct you now a bit

You can save the Game in RE1 when you get the Rocket Launcher, just finish it under three hours (I saved 3 times and got it).

When you play arrange mode in RE1 you can get the infinite magnum when you save both partners.

Something from Code Veronica: Bats don't attack you if you equip the lighter.
