  • RE5 : Weskers death

Sadly, I think Capcom are going to kill Wesker off in Resident Evil 5. He's one of my favourite characters, but the more that is said about this game, the more I think his end is nigh...

    - Weskers voice actor mentioned that in an interview that he had to do a second version of the voice for a scene where Wesker transforms...

...sound like a boss fight to me!

    - Capcom keep stating that this game will wrap up one of the biggest storylines of the series, whilst also stating that they do not mean that of the Umbrella Corp...

...the only other series spanning storyline I can really think of is the feud between Chris and Wesker!

    - Capcom have stated several times the importance of Code Veronica in relation to 5...

..."next time we meet, don't count on another!"

Well, on top of all this, the newly release trailer has a scene where Wesker is convulsing in front of Chris and Sheva as Excella looks on from above (2:41 in gamevideos watermarked version). Seems to back up talk of a transformation, and the idea of a boss fight. And how many boss battles in a game like this see the villain live afterwards? Coupled with the scene where Excella is practically seducing Wesker, and the African BSAA squad talk of a setup, could Capcom be positioning her to be the series' new main villain!?

One scene shows Excella speaking with Chris and Sheva, another has her joinging Wesker, then one with her observing a transformation/battle!

It appears that Chris and Wesker fight on multiple occassions in this game (in a castle, a lab, and a train/plane). Could this simply be to at least send Wesker out with a bang? Give him some kick ass scenes so at least us fans can't moan too much about him being bumped off easily?

Would be a downer in a lot of ways, but i'm fairly sure Weskers days are numbered...

    -

Oh, and all this talk of Jill being brain washed or the like. That's my assumption to, but one thing to note is that in the extended trailers battle between Chris and Wesker, in the castle, there's a flash of Jill's tombstone there to...backs up the idea of Wesker having 'killed' her.

EDIT : I think this will be a case that Excellas father was in competition with Umbrella, both having started in Africa. With Excella knowing this, she sides with Wesker in hope of finally discovering the location of Umbrellas initial base, so that she can steal the work for herself. Puppeteering up a BSAA operation would simply force things in to play. Perhaps, and yes i'm really rolling on a mad line of thought her, ADA could be the bird woman as some originally predicted, with Excella's organisation being the one ADA alludes to in RE4 (Organisation S)!?

Why would there being a setup point towards Excella being the series new villain? Surely the setup is Weskers work since the camera immediately cuts to him when the setup is mentioned?

Also, one of the series biggest storylines is surely Spencer...and we've seen him dead in the trailer so perhaps you're overlooking that?

Wesker dying is a bad thing? I think it is about time they started making character drama in this series.

I doubt Wesker is going to transform, but something is going to happen to him so drastically that will change his voice in some manner.

Do you really want the story to be that obvious?

If Capcom are hyping the end to a series spanning storyline, why would they reveal the outcome in a trailer?

Wesker dying is a bad thing?
Not really. The more I see the fights, the more I think it's to build to a memorable ending for his storyline. It'd only be a shame in that this is one less connection with older games that the inevitable sequels will have.

I doubt Wesker is going to transform
Well you do see Wesker convulting in the trailer, and his voice actor used the word transformation in describing why his voice changes.

          -

Again, i'm only speculating. Nobody will know for sure until the game is released. But them's the feelings i've had all year, and I think it's certainly an interesting idea to discuss.

Does it matter what i want? It's just obvious that the setup is down to Wesker based on how the trailer plays out.

Why ANYTHING? Why have these trailers in the first place? Why have interviews with magazines? Why have internet forums to discuss this stuff? It's a second opinion, that's all.

              Here's the source:

It's great to see Wesker being the main villain in a RE game but i thing that it's time for him to die.

Hype! They want to sell a butt load of copies, so they get the speculations and interest going. However, if the storyline was all but revealed in a trailer, then why create the cutscenes at all?

I'm just trying to back up my theories and create an interesting debate. I'm not knocking you for your assumptions, just trying to back up mine!

                Source?
Erm...the only Resi site I visit anymore (yes Dot, your superior coverage and extensive features have stolen my affections)...

Had to do a search, but found it...OK, so transform doesn't seemed to be specifically said (curse my fuzzy memory), but meh!

First - that's not Wesker convulsing and transforming in the trailer. It's clearly a bald, nude, pale man that subsequently starts sprouting leeches before turning into the giant leech monster.

Second - Wesker's voice probably transforms as he injects his way into becoming a "God." Maybe he goes all Sephiroth? (If I can remember FF7 correctly...having played it 10 or 11 years ago).

So Wesker is now an X-Men/B.O.W./God/Fashion connoisseur.

Not sure about this. I got a FEELING when he started the God talk, because oh god, God talk? That never ends well for anybody. But on the other, it would really, really depend on how he is defeated. Especially because of how he's been played up as an enemy in the series, I think it'd be kind of lame to suddenly pull him out as something to go down like that at the end of things. Unless it was amazingly well done and true to the feeling of who he's been this whole time, in which case I would not be disappointed.

He has to die now. I mean, where else can they go with Wesker? How much more powerful can he become until he is beyond stoppable? It's gotten to where he is teleporting around the room and throwing Chris around like a ragdoll. (To give you an idea of Wesker's power & speed...right now, I'd say he's almost as powerful as RE4 Leon).

The Chris -vs- Wesker showdown was highlighted in RECV, never materialized in REUC, and Wesker's been lurking in both those games, and RE4. It's been drawn out as far as it can go. Time to put this dog to sleep.

Chris WILL kill Wesker in RE5. Whether or not Chris will survive remains to be seen.

I really dont care if Wesker dies or not, I personally think he should have just died in RE1. Its becoming very old how he keeps escaping at the end, I hope they end his character.

Wesker kills Sheva, igniting furthermore Chris's rampant 'roid rage which is naturally > than any B.O.W.

I can't be the only one who wants Wesker to fight on right into the last game of the series? I mean, it seems like the guys getting put down because he's gone on too long...but his appearances in CVX and RE4 were pretty minimal, and this is the first game (UC excluded) that Wesker is going to have a huge starring roll since the first in the series!

That said, his impact on this game looks ENORMOUS. I love RE4 to this day, but already i'm more convinced by Wesker than i ever have been by Saddler or Salazar. Other than Jill's tombstone, it's Wesker's appearance in the two trailers that have people the most pumped for the game, so i'd love to see him go on for sometime to come yet!
