Calm down. It'll be alright. Maybe she isn't the Mystery Woman. Maybe she's just sitting in a cell, and after finding a couple of MO discs, you rescue her before (or after) you face Wesker.

My first thought to this was, if the grave had one of their names on it, there wouldn't have been nearly as much shock value going around from the RE-fen. Jill being basically the most popular character in the series is what's causing all of this "OMG."

Though I do think Wesker's "Now that your partner has arrived, I'll leave you two to ... catch up." line has more meaning to it than is implied. Yeah, we had Sheva saying the whole "we're partners" line, but somehow I'm not getting a Sheva feeling from Wesker's tone in that one.

But with the way trailers like these seem to be, it can really mean just about anything at this point in time. It could very well mean Sheva! Maybe she was kidnapped and injected with something. Maybe Jill was experimented on and the line is a pre-battle type line. Maybe Jill was only kidnapped and releasing her at that time was part of some plan. Maybe Chris gets captured and meets Jill in captivity. Maybe in an ironic twist, the line wasn't even directed at Chris. XD

But considering the gravestone and the tone of that line, I do think they're connected. I'm not sure whether or not I think Jill is dead. They're both things that have a lot of potential.

When Chris was announced as the lead character in the game, it opened the window for appearances by many characters -- Wesker, Jill, Barry, Rebecca, etc. -- simply because they are somehow connected to him...just like how Leon being the lead in RE4 opened the window for appearances by characters connected to him. Bang, we've got Ada Wong.

There seems to be a theme of "partners" for this game.

          Chris and Jill were partners.

Chris and Sheva are now "partnered," and by the end of the game decide that their partnership is stronger than at the beginning.

Chris and Wesker were once partners (in a way, with S.T.A.R.S.)

Wesker and Spencer were once partners (of sorts).

Excella wants to be a partner to Wesker.

This game is about relationships, hence the drama added to the storyline. RE5 seems to be really intent on finally telling a rich, deep story.

I'm just deeply saddened at the complete lack of sandwich jokes...

Zoom in on the tombstone, it reads; God's favourite, a Jill Sandwich.

Very well-said, man...nice job pointing that out. I love underlying themes.

I'm fearing that Capcom will kill off Jill to give some drama and unexpected twist to the series. And Chris will have a flashback remembering how his partner died during a mission... they are capable of anything now. If Jill or Wesker dies this is the end of RE series, I think they might be trying to close well-known characters' storylines to begin with a new one.

What exactly is unexpected about it if we've seen the tombstone? haha

The game already kicked "drama" in the nuts when they put Chris and Wesker in the same game.

Jill's "death" is to emphasize that the stakes are higher.

And to drive fanboys (and girls) crazy with speculation.

Supply & Demand. It's all about supply & demand.

Well they're certainly not failing to supply us with the speculation so far!

                        Speculation = Buzz
The right amount of buzz = even more sales

As for the flashbacks, the fight between Chris and Wesker in the castle IS a flashback.
You can clearly see that Chris is not as buff as he is in Africa. He's also wearing a different uniform. You can also see a quick flash of Jill's tombstone. What this could mean?

The castle is the same place where Wesker kills Spencer. Chris doesn't look as buff since he is wearing a huge tactical vest and a different shirt.

Wesker, however, is wearing his same outfit and trench-coat.

I think that may be the end of the game.

It could just mean that...ya know...she's dead?

We're all expecting a twist, doesn't mean Capcom have to deliver one.

Perhaps people are in denial and setting themselves up for a big, BIG fall if they believe that Jill's going to come out of this alive!

If Jill's dead, she's dead -- we saw her headstone. But we have 5 months to speculate otherwise.
