People genuinely care about Jill. The tombstone and news of her death just broke less than 24 hours ago. What else do you expect people to be talking about?

As for your posts...while they are usually good and I respect your ideas, why do your attempts at sarcasm look like this:

"no killinz jills i wonts beleafs it coz she rulz"
What is that? Why is the grammar completely screwed up? Why are there so many z's? What's that all about?

I think the general idea is that it's to make people look like they're immature and can't string a coherent sentence together.

It's a game. I'm shocked by the response because it seems like people are genuinely going in to mourning. I wont knock anyone for their enthusiasm or care for the series. Hell, when 4 came out I imported a copy as to play it 6 months before I otherwise would have been able to, and played through it in one sitting. I get hyped. But it's a game. I'll likely be pissed if Wesker croaks. Then again maybe not.

The game is months away, don't make it seem further away for yourself. Also, remember that trailers are purely their to try and sell more copies of their products. Capcom do respect their fans, as any decent company should, but all they care about is selling as many copies of a single product as possible.

news of her death just broke less than 24 hours ago.
Doesn't that read as if you've just been told your parents are dead?! :p

"no killinz jills i wonts beleafs it coz she rulz"
And I use the whole internet speak for sarcasm to try and bring light to my points. I enjoy forums as hearing everybody elses opinions helps shape and influence my own. I hate forums because some people go too far to defend their beliefs and everything turns nasty. When making a point, I like to try and do so in a way that says "if you don't agree with me, fair enough"...or rather "if uz donts agrees den plz donts b beatings me". ;)

You played through the entirety of RE4 in ONE sitting, and yet you are surprised by people being shocked by the death of Jill Valentine.

I don't know what to say about that.

As for Jill being dead - of course people will freak. People overreact. I am using it as a topic of discussion. You blew it off as "YAWN" worthy.

This is an RE forum, so of course we are all talking about Jill's "death."

And comparing the tombstone of Jill Valentine - a fictional character - to the impact of a death of a parent or parents is just stupid. Nobody is that delusional.

I appreciate your attempt at humor. I don't think there are too many people on this site that post things such as:

"if uz donts agrees den plz donts b beatings me"
I just didn't understand it when you started doing it. It looks really dumb and actually hurts my eyes and brain trying to decipher such nonsense. Typing like that represents the death of society.

I beg to differ on this point, because evidently there are a few people that this is actually upsetting.

Haha. Yeah, that is true. I just thought comparing the death of a fictional character to the death of a real person was a little distasteful.

Though the world is full of spazzes who pine over the death of fictional characters, whether they be from the medium of TV, comic book, cartoon, video game, etc.

There's a difference between excitement and obsession. Excitement see's you wanting to experience something as soon as possible, obsession see's you wanting to go through that same experience again and again.

As for Jill being dead - of course people will freak.
But this is my point. We're on about a ficitonal character. All it takes is a cutscene to bring her back to life, if the character has even been killed off at all. I know it's a beloved character, but there's so much discussion on the characters supposed death when there is so much else about the trailers worth discussing.

And comparing the tombstone of Jill Valentine - a fictional character - to the impact of a death of a parent or parents is just stupid. Nobody is that delusional.

I weren't comparing the death of a fictional character with that of a relative. I was comparing others over blown reactions to the death of a fictional character with that of a relative.

The two comments I quoted from you made it sound liek you were talking about a living, breathing person. My comparison was for the sake of reminding you Jill isn't real.

evidently there are a few people that this is actually upsetting.
                  Yeah, that is true.
Stu summed up my point, and you agreed with it. Some people have shot down theories or comments purely because they don't want to believe a character they like is dead. Now, I could understand such topics and attitudes popping up had the game released but we're discussing a trailer.

Trailers should provoke interest, not insanity.

Excitement and Obsession are both good things, as long as they are of the "healthy" variety.

Everyone has been discussing the recent trailers, at great length. Jill's tombstone happens to be the big "shocker" though, so it is getting the most hype. If Capcom wasn't seeking that effect, they wouldn't have put such a stark image at the end of the trailer to hammer it home.

And trailers that are this good will undoubtedly cause mass interest AND insanity. Don't you think? ;)

EDIT: I see what you're saying about people overreacting to fictional characters. And I agree. But I am not of that variety. The only fictional death that could ever haunt me is if they killed Uncle Jessie from "Full House."

I think it is a swerve and want fans to think that she is dead. It is also possible that they killed her off because they wanted Chris's fight to seem more real and figured showing that Jill was dead would get people talking. Well mission accomplished.

I still don't see her being dead. Capcom haven't had the guts to leave popular characters they did kill dead. They're not gonna kill off a main one in a game you don't see her in, even in a flashback.

The only way this would work is if Jill was in the game and died during it, maybe by being a brain washed Bird Woman and eventually being killed. Or, of course, doing a movie Nemesis since they seem so fond of that crap.

And folks...be nice. If you're posting just to be a caustic sod then don't bother.

Well, the tombstone says that she died in 2006. So I think it is a plot element to drive the story, and Chris' hatred of Wesker. I'm sure there will be a flashback where Wesker faces Chris & Jill, and Wesker kills her. Chris, unable to save someone so important to him, will be driven over the edge.

His sole purpose becomes vengeance. He will not stop until he or Wesker is dead.

*Now whether or not Jill is actually killed, kidnapped (but presumed dead), or PLAN C, remains to be seen.

AJ is right ! It was only one frame. It could turn out to be something unrelated to anything.
