...and at the end of the trailer of RE6 they show us a graveyard with the tombstones of all the old characters to revive the series with brandnew characters, laser beams and rainbow-all-mighty-power-queens.

    Very original Boob .

I think the problem is that Capcom have turn Wesker in a god like person and the problem is that we caint really have a nomal boss fight with him in human from Wesker would have to mutate into a monster or if someone who has the same powers as Wesker but I just wounder how will Campcom pull if off?

Chris wakes up and realises it was all a dream, because... You know... being impaled by Tyrant and then being blown up in a gigantic explosion is generally considered fatal.

But never mind, Capcom can do what they want with the series. I think it would've been nice if Wesker was just dead and gone at the end of RE1. I've never liked his character in any of the later games, and feel his "coolness" is appealing to lowest common demoninator of Western audiences. Suits and trench coats are cool, right?

Unfortunately, it works, and now most people think he's kickin' rad yo. I'm happy to see quite a lot of people here share this dim view of Capcom's decision to change Wesker's character the way they did.

I don't see where you are going with this. Seems awful elitist. "Western audiences?"

As for Wesker...some people like him, some don't. He's a much better antagonist than Ramon Salazar, Alfred Ashford, or Dr. Robotnik.

                It's "denominator," by the way.

Oops, yes it is denominator. Where I'm going with the post is that Western audiences (when I say that, I think anywhere west of Russia basically) seem to enjoy this whole "Matrix cool" thing. The RE movies are a good example of this. For example, when she backflips off a motorbike in slow motion while crashing through a window. Why do I think this? Simple. They keep bringing out stuff like this, so it must be selling.

And that is my point. I don't like it, but other people do.

I'm not quite sure what you meant by questioning my use of the phrase "western audiences". As I myself am part of the demographic, I can only count on what I've noticed, and that is that this stuff sells. I can't comment on Eastern audiences such as Japan, because I know nothing about the country.

Edit: Maybe I should've written "the lowest common denominator in Western audiences" to prevent any confusion

Ah, I see. Yeah, the "Matrix" crap is pretty lame, but it has been prevalent in all types of media since, well, the "Matrix" was released and became popular.

RE became a breeding ground of Matrix-fu sometime around the whole Claire-drops-her-pistol-but-then-manages-to-fall-faster-than-it-and-then-catch-it-to-shoot-the-exploding-barrel.

RE4 exacerbated the Matrix-fu garbage. It's everywhere in that game.

I still think Wesker is a decent-to-good villain. Him pulling off the stunts I can accept, but if Chris starts doing it...well, I will be sincerely pissed. Hopefully Wesker bites the big one in RE5, as if he sticks around any longer, IMO it will be "too much."

As for your opinion on audiences...well, Japan produces anime which sometimes showcases exaggerated human feats which probably influenced the Matrix which in turn influenced everything else. And Japanese programmers are making RE5 (and thus doing character development), so I think the entire globe is actually to blame for your dislike of Wesker's Matrix-like appearance and abilities.

Ok. Wesker is ridiculously powerful in RE5 because it's most likely going to be his last game. They've played the wesker card to much, where he's always behind the scenes, always becoming more powerful, it all has to stop somewhere. But anyways, of course everyone wants wesker to go it with a bang in some badass fight, so be it. With the way chris has been training (taking tips from Barry apparently), wesker wouldn't stand a chance against his hulk arms if he didn't have the superhuman strength. Although I must say, resident evil just won't be the same without him. Cry me a river.

As much as I like Wesker, I think all the characters of RE should go back to their roots, just regular people trying to survive against an evil corporation and zombies/mutants, a la RE 1-3.

Well...I'd hardly call an elite special forces that has more training than anyone there age can possibly have regular people. RE2's a bit better, since Leon was a rookie cop. I'm hesitant to say Claire's a normal person given that three months later she wakes up in the Matrix and, of course, is a Redfield.

Yea just look at the reverse effect with rebbecca. In zero she fights through hordes of zombies, hunters, a giant scorpion, Dr. Marcus...then in RE1 the only thing she manages to accomplish is blinding chris with mace
