Which means that Spencer now has a bargaining chip. If Wesker kills him, then he'll never find out the secret behind the genesis of Progenitor. I imagine that records were kept about Progenitor, except for the location of where the virus originated. With Marcus and Ashford dead, Spencer would be the only person with knowledge about what the flowers are, where to find them and what they do.

Of course, all of this suddenly makes RE0 seem less significant. Afterall, everything didn't start with the T-virus. It just happened to be the main cause of the outbreaks in the series, but what did the T-virus originate from? Progenitor, and that's where it'll end - where it began. The circle is complete.
    See you in hell.

I'm still confused about this 'Uroboros.' It looks like it says it on a tube in one of the trailers, and the transcripts of the 'Play God' trailer say that Chris mentions it(I still can't hear what they're saying), so what exactly is it? Does anyone really know or is it all just speculation?

Can flowers be host to or produce a virus? I'm neither a virologist nor a botanist.

It's a "doomsday project" and is one of Wesker's toys apparently (in his huge fucking missile stockpile). The word "Uroboros" refers to the snake eating it's own tail, a symbol of everything coming "full circle" or simply "this shit is going to go on and on".

^^^I believe plants can get viruses and such but it would be very unlikely that it could be passed on to an animal.

Now I may have misread it but I was always under the assumption that the progenitor virus originated in ants...but that may have been the version that Alexia used to create the T-veronica virus.

I had always assumed that a doomsday scenario was Spencer's ultimate plan. It was mentioned in Wesker's report 2 that if they're was ever a viral leak the spread of the virus would be nigh unstoppable. Even wesker wondered why Spencer had the lab built in the forsted mansion.

No, Alexia mixed Progenitor Virus (or Mother Virus) with a virus found in Queen Ant, and that's how she made T-Veronica.

Yeah, plants can be the host to fungi, bacteria, and viruses. They can transfer the virus, bacteria, fungi, to anything that either eats or otherwise comes in contact with. That being said, just because there's a virus on or in you doesn't mean it can infect you. Very few virus can make the species jump from plant to animal. I believe it's been mentioned before in this topic, that the genus Reoviridae can infect both plant and animal.

In regards to the "Uroboros", upon researching the subject matter of the "Ouroboros" and African culture, there are some similarities to the "Oshunmare" (or Oxumare) of Yoruba mythology which is the culture most prominent in Nigeria. It is a rainbow serpent and is a symbol of regeneration and/or rebirth. There's also the tie in with the legendary monster, the Leviathan, which looks like we fight on a ship in RE5. Aside from the tentacles we see, we know the Leviathan is supposed to be a giant sea monster which is essentially what we battle. However, it should be noted that most Leviathan myths involve the Mediterranean Sea, which would then mean the only African countries that would be involved are Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco... Funny thing about the Leviathan myths though; it's afraid of small worms called "kilbit" that clog up the gills of larger fishes... What if the black worms we see are "kilbit"?

Had a feeling that was the case. Was it ever explicitly said that the virus' origin was in Africa.
